Two more BRXs

Thanks, Im excited. I should just stop right here, but:
I want to pursue the hybrid\varget combo. Also interested in 4350, as it appears this barrel might like slower powders. I have yet to get any appreciable pressure signs. The varget loads have some slightly flatter primers. Of course, we'll see how this story goes in 90 degree heat, too.

As soon as we get rid of some snow and mud, we can start seeing what we have at distance.

I am at a loss as to something I observed. The hybrids with the same varget load, same day, same .015 jump were 40 fps faster than the 108s. SD was better too. 8 vs 12. They were slightly more accurate, too.

I'm going to try some hybrids also , you said the hybrid was faster and better, you know some barrels just respond that way , they do better with a different bullet, some things can't be explained. whatever shoots best is what I shoot.

The 2000mr got some very good(for me) speed. The accuracy is better than I shoot. I kept getting exited about the groups as they formed and seemed always pull one.

The crazy thing was the point of impact was virtually the same over a 1.5 grain spread. I was shooting 108s off a bipod on the bench.

I shot some Varget loads yesterday and it appears that hybrids work better than 108s in my barrel. Still no match for the speed today, plus nowhere near as wide a node.

I think this round is really winning my heart.

Yabut there is practically no vert with 35 and an increasing amount as you added powder. I might even look at 34.7. Personally I like em all in the same hole regardless of speed. Jus my sperience

Power Pro has had wide nodes like that in everything I've tried it in until the weather gets hot then oh boy WTF.

We each have something north of 600 rounds down range since they were built.

My buddy has settled on Varget, like so many other have. Accuracy is excellent. His sweet spot is 2960ish with coated 108s. We have been shooting some suppressed and his rifle loves the extra weight on the end of the barrel. He doesnt like to compete with it because he cant spot hits as easily.

I am still using PP2000. I have shot matches in the 90 degree range successfully. I even leave my ammo out to see what if any ill effects. Im going to say that my grouping isnt as tight, but the point of impact over a wide temp swing is very consistent. I shoot coated 108s around 3040ish. Since we are shooting steel, I like the slight edge on speed for wind calls. Mine doesnt like my suppressor as far as accuracy goes. Takes it out to 1/2 - 5/8 minute. No appreciable point of impact change with the can on or off. I have mostly shot our matches with it on.... pew.. clang pew.. clang.

I sure do like this round... makes me smile.

This post started in Feb 2017, I have had time breaking my new BRX in here it is 6 shots 300 yards

I don't know how you guys measure your group , as you can see, from end to end is .997, center to center was .818, and some people take that .997 minus bullet diameter .243 that would be a .754= and that equals .240 MOA under 1/4, if we go center to center .818 = .260 MOA just a tad over 1/4, and .997 to the outside is .317moa, little over 1/4, however you do your group it's okay either way, I did win a 300 yard match and 200

I’d say you’ve got it working... nice shooting!

I can hardly wait to take my own BRX to matches in the spring. I wont deny that making this gun was hard work but it has really been paying off. The accuracy is just astounding. I found good loads with H4350 at 37 gr but you really have to pack them in with a long drop tube. SoI did the Varget thing and found a nice load at 33.1gr. Both using 95gr bullets. Both shot equally as well. Next barrel I do I am goning to run a 1;7.5 twist with the 115gr Bergers.

I was there with him today while he was fire forming and testing loads, this rifle shoots one holers. Makes my group look like crap. Way to go good buddy.

Your Dasher will run. You just need your front rest like we saw yesterday.

FM1947, that's a McMillan Kestros, Masterclass did all the bedding/stock work. Elvin did all the chambering work he also had to do a little inletting on the fore end because that barrel is heavy and flexed the stock until it touched. All is good now.

Here's some results. 108gn Berger jumping .020"
Lapua blue box fireformed in a dedicated fireforming rifle
Fed GMM primer
Varget Powder

First target is 600 yds I shot it first after breaking in the barrel with the 1 shot and clean for 7 shots then five shots to get a zero. 12 shots then I went to 600. I shot 25 at 600 then went and shot the second target for 100yd groups.

Wow! Looks like Tom did another nice job. Dan, did you do the 100 yd stuff of the bench or prone? I assume the 600 is prone? It's going to be interesting to see what the seating depth does for the 600 yd line.

I hear ya dude. This rifle is going to Phoenix in Feb. Elvin has a few other reamers up his sleeve and good things should come out of the facility this Spring as the tactical/long range games start to heat up. He and I will try and get those Sierra 110s to shoot; there’s enough barrels and bullets between the group of us to prove it either way.

The spacer was whittled from a chunk of plastic off a snowmobile. It was a crude test, but seems to do the trick. I cut the follower, and trimmed a few spots to seat the spring appropriately on the plastic undersides on each end... easy..peasy

In trying to get a Rem 700 to feed BR cases, I needed to make a rear block and came upon the idea of using pieces of a white kitchen cutting board, small version of what they use in meat markets. After cutting, burnish well. Just a thought for those of us trying to mod mags.

I am in the middle of a 6BRX project found the right load but I don't like what some of my primers look like, I will be able to figure that out next time I shoot it but for now I shot 5 shot group 200 yards at .502 of an inch =.239 MOA so just under 1/4 MOA, Savage Target action krieger 1/8 twist .272 nck 29 inches long

Not trying to be a W.A., just curious if you had firing pin turned down; Also, I noticed in a recent batch of Lapua 6br brass that the pockets were tight; called CCI (BR4) and that is what they confirmed. I never uniform Lapua but noticed lately deformations in fired primers.
