Leica 2000-b or Sig Kilo 2200?

Not using your br2 anymore?
Yes Alex I still use my G7 a lot but sometimes depending on what gun I'm packing and how far I'm walking I don't always pack it because of its size when I already have big bino's hanging off my neck. I like the pocket size for carry, but most of the time I have both of them on me. In low light I like the Leica reticule better than the G7.

Has anybody used there sig kilo when it’s colder out like below 31? I had issues with mine today it was in the mid teens and wouldn’t range a big bush that I know was under 1000 yards. Sig told me the cold will affect them the battery gets to cold and they won’t work right then below 31.

Cold can effect the batteries in any of them. I would think it was conditions that caused it. Some days, my two buddies can't read 800 and it don't have to be cold. Matt

I just purchased the Sig 2400 with all the bells and whistles. So far so good. Farthest reading so far has been about 2750 yds. I tried my buddies 2400 in the field before the purchase. We are both very happy with the 2400. Maybe we are both lucky as well, based on all the problems people seem to be having. I had mine out yesterday in 15 deg weather and no problems so far. Very glad it has the full warranty, including electronics, for 5 yrs. My stuff gets used weekly in the field hiking with my dogs. If anyone can wear it out or break it I will be the one. Lol. :D:D:eek: I will keep you guys posted if anything goes up in smoke.:);)

I hear the same thing but it seems to be on a 50-50 basis. Either they seem to work great or hardly at all. I hope they get it worked out. Matt

Like you I was reading along and was shocked at the disdain for the Sig Kilo vs the Leica. I am about 15 years behind the curve on Rangefinders as my last two are the Leica Geovid and 1600LRF. They have been keeping up with what I needed for quite some time. Alas... new technology comes out and now I am quite a bit behind. Barrowed a friends Sig 2400. What I can say is WOW! Ranging out to 2000yards well beyond what I currently own.( old Tech Leica)
After reading the issues with the 2200 and 2000 here I did some searching and found out that the 2400 stepped it up with a smaller Beam devergance and is quite a bit better than the others. Of course it cost a lot more.
It will however be my next purchase. the SIG 2400AB. Making hits at 1425yds and 1957yds in the mountains convinced me.

The extra cost on the SIG 2400 is mostly due to the integrated Applied Ballistics software. If it did not have that it would be much cheaper. Like I said my 2200 ranges well, but not to the claimed yardages in the manual. The 2400 appears to be ranging well for some folks, and that's great.

Another one of my gripes with Sig is the poor customer service. I can only range up to 1600 +/- with the Sig on ANY target, reflective or not, yet they claim 2200+. When I called Sig CS they basically told me "Sorry bud, that's too bad."
Making a proportional comparison, If my Leica 1600 would only range a little over 1100 yards on a reflective target and I called Leica CS with a complaint, you can bet they'd have me send it in straight away for evaluation and repair.

Sig's claims to have an unconditional warranty on optics like Vortex, and an industry leading 5 years on the electronics of their LRFs. After my first experience with CS, I've determined their claim on taking care of customers is about as good as their claim on the range readings their LRFs will produce. I will no longer be purchasing Sig products of any kind. I refuse to give business to companies that do not fully back their product.

Been in this Laser Range finder game for a long long time. The numbers have been over inflated for YEEEEEARS. I have to laugh.. the first Nikkon 400 I had in early 2000's would only read to about 200yds realiably... Then the 800 version that would read reliably to 600yds. Then the Bushnell 1000yds Read to 800. Then the 1600 Lecia would read to 1000yds. Like I said this has been going on for a Long long time. Not exclusive to one brand or the other in my experience. Like inflated BC's in the bullets. or Gas mileage of a car. Market hype.

Yeah I don't know if that's completely true. If you read the whole thread you'll see a picture of my Leica 1600 reading 1952 yards.

I owned a Nikon Monarch 1200 LRF years ago. It was actually a really good LRF. Could read 1300 yards on trees in low light.

The Swarovski is renowned for reading past its rating as well.

So with the right weather conditions and lighting, there are plenty of LRFs out there that will reach or surpass the number stamped on the side of them. However in my personal experience so far, Sig is NOT one of them.

Yea but the thread is SIG 2000 or 2200. The 2400 should go a little farther. It's a lot more money. I bekieve it can be bought without the program but still more money. I read a review saying that but can't find one without the program. It is still also hit and miss, some read far and some don't read for crap. I have seen it both ways and they were mounted on a tripod. Matt

My Sig is very inconsistent. Some days it has trouble ranging 24x24” steel target at 1200. Couldn’t range a deer yesterday at less than 700.

I have noticed that if I replace the battery when the battery indicator reads anything but 100%...it behaves more consistently.

After reading all these likes and many dislikes with various range finders, anyone genuinely not satisfied with a product which cannot meet advertised claims should just return it to the seller, negative feedback from customers will get back to the manufacture pretty quick and they won't like this.
The next models will be better for it, as actions speak louder than words in a forum.

I’ve got the Leica 1600B. Glad in it is amazing. I’ve compared the ranging with one nephews Sig 2200 and another’s BR7. Honestly, I wouldn’t trade the Leica for either of the others. In terms of glass clarity and my needs in ranging, I’m more than happy.

Just completed a cow elk shoulder hunt with a variety of rangefinders on hand and in the weather, rain, wind and occasional snow flurries against snow covered ground they were all next to worthless! My brothers G7 finally ranged a cow at 785 that I tagged but my Leica 2000 and a Sig 2400 wouldn’t range. We moved over the hill to fill another tag and had elk scattered in front of us but my units were unable to range anything much past 400 yards. The G7 was able to reach out to 550. Most days my Leica or the Sig will range past 2000 yards but under certain weather conditions they can sure ruin your day and you might as well stay home!

First i will say i am not nearly as experienced with range finders like many of you.. i have been getting by with a opti logic range finder for years... it has several down falls.. but i have made due... i stumbled onto the sig kilo 2200lrh on sale at cabelas.. and had alot of gift cards from Christmas so i said what the hell.. it was dark when i got home... and 3 degrees out... so i was inside looking out windows .. and got a tree at 1100 in the dark through a window... that impressed me on its own... as my old one wouldnt do shit through windows... I will say i'm a little nervous after reading some of this.. im going to do a bit more testing today in the light.. might even snow a little so i can give it a try than too....

Optics are much better on my Leica and I can range over 1900 yards all day long with it. My buddy bought a Sig and I personally ranged a building past 3000 yards but it was not nearly as impressive on non-reflective targets. The Sig is probably the best for the money- I have seen them on sale very cheap. Leica has great customer service. JMO

I have the same problem here with my Sig kilo pos 2k. How is Sig getting away with this? Someone talk to your lawyer friend we need a class action lawsuit. Sig can have mine back I just want my money back.
