Review: Sig Kilo 2200MR vs Leica 1600

Sounds like we have the same range finder only yours works better than mine. The 2400 is supposed to be much more powerful though. I hear you on the snow too. Winter in Kalispell really handicapped us this year. Nice fish too! Been a while since I've been on the lake.

My father in law has the Leica rangemaster 1200 and he can ranges trees over 1300 yards in low light. So his 1200 exceeds its rating as well.

I had a 1200 and I ranged a tree at 1342. This was over flat land. I now have the 1600B but haven't had the occasion to use it at any distance to check its limits.

Yeah my experience with Leica has been that they 'under rate' the power their rangefinders. So far with Sig, it seems they are 'over rating' the Kilo.

I was under the impression that the 2200 is a little tighter beam and just slightly more powerful laser then the 2000. I thought I read the 2400 is supposed to be tighter yet and more powerful then the 2200. Maybe you got a bad one. Seen that with other brands. My Swarovski would go to 2000 yards a lot of times and that is all the display would allow. My 3 buddies same model would not do it on a regular basis. Matt

That's what I'm thinking because my Kilo 2200MR clearly will not achieve the specs outlined in the owners manual.

Sorry I've been away from this review for a while folks. I did get a chance to range some cows. Couldn't find the dang elk on the farm. Must have been in the trees. Anyhow, my Leica 1600 prevailed again. It was easily picking up cattle at 1300-1350 yards and the Kilo wouldn't range them much past 1100. So again, that's 200 yards shy of what the owners manual claims.
