Whats the craziest thing you have ever heard some one about a gun?

O.K., I was at Walmart looking for 17HMR ammo. Another fellow stood close to me and asked what I was looking for. 17HMR I said, and he pointed it out for me. Next he said, You need to try the .17 Winchester super mag and I said, I've heard that's a pretty awesome cartridge. Obviously he was drawing me into a conversation so he could enlighten me on his expertise. He said, I shot a Coyote at 1000 yds. with my .17 Win SM rifle. Wow you must have used quite a bit of hold over to nail him at that distance I said sarcastically. Nope, I held right on his shoulder, he said to which I answered B.S. with a chuckle, but I didn't use the initials. :D He promptly disappeared headed for the Automotive Dept.

That guy gets around. Must have been him in my shop last week. By any chance did he mention that he was a SEAL sniper?

A guy on another forum was asking about a good deer load for a 6.5 Grendel. He wanted an accurate load, out to say 800yds because he routinely takes head and heart shots at that distance. Sorry fellas, I have to call BS on this one.

Oh so true. When you have to ask a question like that you would know already. Kind of like the questions about what do I need to shoot 1,000yds. If you went out and tried it even one time you would have a pretty good idea.

Then this guy wants to use a pop gun for 800yds. Classic.

A group of us were shooting an F class practice one day. Just for kicks I also bought along my 6.8 spc 20" AR. I had shot it on the 500m silhouette range prior, but wanted to know it's limits. I set up at 800yds first. I fired and surprisingly the target went down. The pits radioed back that it hit sideways. I didn't even ask where, just laughed and packed it back up. I don't believe that a Grendel would be much different.

Sideways, huh? Might work ok hunting, that's how Steve McQueen tackled guys in the movies - he threw himself at them sideways.

A guy at my range today was working up a load for elk out to 500 yds. He was shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor???????? How has humanity survived this long without that cartridge?
You buy one of those bullets with a camera in it, show the bullet a picture of an Elk load it in the magic "Creed" pull the trigger and bam extinction!

Darn! Missed opportunity! We should get Hogpatrol to try one on an elephant!

It's been around a long time as the 6.5-250 Ackley Improved 30-deg.
