Unbendable cleaning rod do they exist?

I just bent my second dewey rod, fell against bench and stepped on it. My clutz move but now that I need a new rod I'd like to find one more forgiving if they exist. Any suggestions? I did love my deweys right up until I bent them I'd almost rather they broke, at least then I could pitch them. As they are I keep them thinking I'll find a use one day. Keep reminding me they were $40 LOL

It is doubtful that there is such a thing as an "unbendable" cleaning rod. However, Tipton makes graphite rods that an nearly indestructible and would take a SUBSTANTIAL bend to break it. However, if it does not reach the breaking point, it will immediately straighten itself out. The only problem, if you want to label it a problem, is as far as I can determine, they only go to 44" and no longer. A nice 50" would be great, however, I don't believe Tipton makes them that long..

I've made some for my personal use from drill rod, reasoning that carbon or other unwanted grit would be unable it imbed in it. Most difficult part is devising a handle. I use bearings from the local farm supply store and a file handle. And they are certainly not unbendable. But they are quite rigid.

Not everyone can utilize this idea, I realize. Hope it helps?

Have you thought of going into the manufacture of them?

i just checked on these tiptons yep 44" is longest. 36" rod length. So with my 30" tube and a Rem 700 on the back that comes out to be. Well darn it!

Had a Tipton CF that just de-laminated/shattered on me with a tight patch trying to palm tap it in. Suspect they may be a wee bit more abrasive than coated metal rods as well.

Uncoated steel with guides and ball bearing end .
I guess Oldguy and I have a similar approach to finding a solution to problems or needs .

Though not unbendable (flex), one direction carbon fiber is the stiffest, and will retain it's shape.

I bought a carbon fiber rod. Waited for wifey to head for the Mall then rolled it on a Granite counter top. Sure enough it had a bow in it :( Returned it to Supplier. Don't know if others have had same experience. Perhaps this was just a fluke

You can straighten the rods and continue to use them.

As far carbon goes I don't think it can be bent . Carbon is known for flexing but can't be bent .
Reguardles how stiff a rod is it will still rub on the bore without being supported other then in front and back when pushing . Pulling can be different . Very seldom is a barrel straight. Most cleaning rods are fairly tight to the bore . I don't think cleaning rods would ever wear the barrel if they are clean . Larry

Flexing and curving is a form of bending, Larry.
