Turn Your FX-120i into a Prometheus

You sir are a genius...I'm IN! Just tell me when you want my money and how much I need to send ;)

Just got.mine all put together. Haven't even loaded any rounds yet.

Now we have to have new parts coming.

One question. Will you have to set up the powder measure manually or in your electronic wizardry will it just know what to do?

You still have to set the volume with the screw mechanism. It is set in cubic centimeters, which matches the yellow Lee scoops I use, so at least it's convenient if you already have those. I'm going to do some research to find out how much under the target it should be set to minimize total time, probably around 2 grains.

Adam, I set my Harrel's thrower about 1 1/2 gr (or slightly less) short of the target. This is the best compromise in my system throwing near 41gr and 51gr for my two loadings. (Entris 64)

BTW....you have to stop this nonsense.:D

Adam,

Would you sell just the mechanism without the powder measure itself? I have two powder measures that I like, their operation is very similar to the one you show, and it does not appear that it would be difficult to adapt them to you mechanism.
Thx!
Alex

I don't think I'd sell it without the measure. It would be like offering the V1 without the RCBS trickler, which some people have asked about, you still have to drill and tap some holes and that's just part of the whole product package. It likely possible to adapt any measure, but it takes work (and a lot of 3D printing in my case) and the end result is something unique. The Lee fits well with the objective, to be low cost, run well with a stepper motor, mount well to the A&D scale, easy to assemble without a lot of extra drilling, etc.

Adam,
How well or accurate do you think this setup will work with larger stick powders such as RL-25 and RL-26?

I'd say if the Lee measure works with it, then the automated version would also. The opening is actually bigger now so it probably is less prone to getting clogged.

For the trickler, large powders sometimes clump underneath the tube inside the hopper and cause the tube to skip. It can be fixed by filling the gap under the tube with some foam in order to keep the powder above the tube.

I will be sending an email to everyone I usually send new product emails to probably next week when it's ready to order. If you are not already a customer then send me your email address and I'll include you in that announcement.

Also there will be a video on the chrono going up soon, probably tomorrow. Just an fyi

The UPS man just delivered my FX120i and trickler. Wow this thing is incredible. It's so slick and easy to set up. It's the best shooting product I've bought in years, maybe ever! Thanks Adam for a great product!

Adam,
I understand, and that is fine - I was just wondering. I do want one when these become available.
Thanks for replying.

Ok

I just used my trickler for the first time. Adam you are a genius. This thing is awesome. Had me laughing while charging cases.

I have tried it all. You will put the chargemaster on the for sale list everywhere. Those guys better sit up and take notice.

I have a beautiful harrell BR powder measure. Can't bring myself to sell it but it sure isn't going to get used much.

Adams technique with the lee dippers works so well i don't know if the powder measure is even necessary.

Durability will be the next question. I have a.line conditioner but just how durable the electronics will be is the question. Cut my charging time by 2/3 rds

Yep I've had mine for a couple months now and it performs flawlessly, was wondering myself how durable it will be in the long run?? Time will tell...hope I wasn't to hasty in selling my chargemaster. For now though my favourite part of reloading is throwing powder with the auto Trickler.

Cheers Rushty

Not to worry about durability, I will help you out with any warranty issues. Each o-ring lasts on average a year depending on how smooth your pulley is and how often you use it, and some of the very first run electronics have had some issues but I am replacing as necessary. And quality has gone up a lot as I am making more and more.

I bet you are. Best powder measure out there by far.

So the AutoThrow... I finally got the new prototype pulley and timing belt in and it's perfect. I ran it overnight cycling 28,000 times and it was good as new in the morning.

Just filmed the video, tomorrow afternoon I'll revamp the website and get everything ready, and tomorrow evening it will be up for preorder. It's really going to be a game changer. Cycle times down to 6 seconds when the trickler is working well.

Damn

What is this going to cost me?

Nothing at all... unless and until you succumb to desire, as with all temptations!

I had a good chuckle reading Adam's last post, about this new contraption of his being a game-changer & all.

His Auto Trickler was a game-change in and of itself, and at a very reasonable price point unless of course you also had to upgrade to a compatible scale to take advantage of what it provides.

Even with that additional expense, when compared to what a 'leased' Prometheus II would run you (or by some means connive to acquire a Gundersen), it's been a worthwhile addition to my reloading regimen and that of several of my shooting associates.

I have to hand it to you Adam, your creativity's advancing personal reloading efficiency to new heights, and I thank you for your contributions!
