6MM GRINCH Defeats entire Field of 6PPCs

From what I understand it's Grendel based, necked down, blown forward with 40 degree shoulder, fireforming required. Probably more hassle than Dasher to fireform and when you're done you have a case that's only got capacity of about a 6BR. May be great for short range but out longer you'd probably want the extra velocity of the Dasher.

Sheldon,

It does quite well at 600 yards with 103 gr bullets. I put an 8 twist brux on it a couple of days before the 600 yard IBS nationals and came in 7th in LG group shooting a 2.2 eight target agg. That's with never shooting it at a match and only two days to tune it. Couple of weeks ago I shot a 1.9 agg at a match and small group of .949. Case life is just as Is fine running it at around 2930.

I shoot my 6mm Grendels at 600 yards AR competition once a month. I tested RL 15 with very good results also. However, I prefer to use H4895 powder in my 6mm Grendels for 600 yards with 105 class bullets since it is fast and consistent. Other great powders I tested for 6mm bullets in that class are CFE 223 and Benchmark. Varget was very accurate, but MV was lower than expected due to small case volume. My 22" bartlien 8 twist has produced 5 shot 3/4" groups at 300 yards. It is THE best AR rifle in the safe(s).

I have not tested any 6mm bullets under 95 grains because I figured the 8 twist was way off.

I tried H4895 and found it to work very well also!

I`d like to compare prints 6AR T 40 with Grinch. That would be interesting as Whitley actually has dies on hand with no wait for custom.

What is the case capacity of the Grinch and the Dasher?
I didn't know the Dasher tended to throw shots.
Any guess why?

Thanks for sharing some of the latest greatest ideas.
Keep up the good work.

You are the man Brett, now to find the other, thanks so much!! Great shooting at St Louis as well!!

I'd say winning a short range match is new and it won't be long until it's winning 600 yards matches. What I like about it, is it just doesn't throw shots like a Dasher.

Yes sir, I agree the application is new. The case modification to the grendal has been around for some time.
I have been shooting one ( 6mmFat Rat ) since 2012. so 4 years already. Made the shoot off for a National Trophy with it in 2014 against that years National Champion and the year Prior I barrowed it to a friend and he did the same thing.
I have a 87gr Berger VLD and CFE 223 Load that shoots lights out for my particular discipline. However I have found it likes a lot of combination's of powder, bullet weights and Shapes.

Its fun to try new stuff isn't it. Its almost a disease. Ha!

Hal,

The Grinch has about the same case capacity as a 6BR, but has the ability to produce a bit more velocity. The Dasher can run probably close to 150 fps faster when pushed towards its upper end. Personally I think it's probably a bit overbore.
