First Tuner test results

Please be more specific. What does "national level" mean, then?

Mike

I guess I really can't explain it to you! In short range the National level shoots are the Super Shoot, IBS And NBRSA Nationals. Come try one and see what I'm talking about. It has to be experienced, so you can first hand see the level of Compeition. See how the Top guys can get there rifles to shoot i.e "tuned".

When I started making long range bullets I wanted to see what National level shooters were capable of. So I attended and shot the 600 and 1000 yard Nationals.
You have to get out and see what the Best of the Best are capable of.

Next month the IBS Nationals will be held in Fairchance PA! Pack a bag and let's go shoot! Experience the competition! Come see what I'm talking about!

It's like trying to explain what vanilla ice cream tastes like. I can't do it. You have to taste it yourself.

Maybe this will help!

IBS 2015 Group National Results

2 Gun Winner! 1968 agg that's 20 groups (5 shot) averaging a little over .196

3 Gun Winner! 2076 agg that's 30 groups (5 shot) around a 207

4 Gun Winner! 2326 agg that's 40 groups total. 30 groups of 5 shots and 10 groups of 10 shots.

So 40 record groups for the IBS plus 6 warm up groups! NBRSA Nationals consist of 46 record groups. 30 groups of 5 shot with bag gun and 16 unlimited 10 shot groups.

Both Nationals are 6 fun filled days of shooting!

Bart, I've shot multiple IBS Nationals as well as UBR score Nationals. I'll likely be at the UBR Nats next month. Personally, and having shot both, UBR is tougher IMHO.---Mike

Ok,

Im going to quit now. If looking at the 2015 Stats didn't give you an idea. I was originally correct. I can't explain it to you!

Any way you need to make us a tuner that can work on the 10 1/2 pound guns! I'd like to try one out! By all accounts you make one hell of a tuner!

Now that's a whole 'nother subject, Bart. No...not group..only because we live in a score hot bed. There is no doubt that there are some big names in the group game. ALSO, I've seen some HOF group shooters go home from a score match with their tail between their legs . Why don't you come shoot with US? Now, I'm not talking smack at all. I'm in no position to do that! I started a new career about 1-1/2 years ago and my time is very limited. In fact, I've only had time to shoot one match this year so far! People that know me will tell you that I was a regular prior to this...at a few different ranges. That said, when I was shooting well, there's no secret as to why...Anyone that knows anything about BR knows that performance on match day coincides with practice. That's not even a little bit debatable....I don't care what discipline of BR we're talking about!(for any new shooters reading this, I promise, that's the MOST important statement in this or most any thread, on any forum, that you'll read anywhere!!!) Tuners, actions, bullets, stocks, nor barrels will buy you wins!! You must put in the trigger time, behind good flags, in match conditions to win consistently. You can cheap your way out of winning but you can't spend enough to win!!!

Now, we can debate over which is tougher..group or score..but that gets away from the subject. As has been said, and I agree with 100%, A GOOD TUNE IS A GOOD TUNE!!. The whole subject of tuners would be moot...and you wouldn't be using one if that wasn't true! The whole point of tuners is to maintain tune...period!! That point remains the same whether or not you move your tuner or just use if it were a a barrel with a bulge at the muzzle and tune that barrel traditionally..to which I don't see all of the point. It remains the same, whether the game be group or score....and it remains the same, regardless of who's there.

From what I've seen, the single most important difference between a "national level" match and a club level match is how MANY people are at the big matches. At a local match, you may well have some of the same shooters there as a "national level" match, and one or two shooters really be on "their game"..or possibly "tuned up", on that day. At a " national", everyone comes out of the woodwork and you may well have several different shooters that brought their "A" game. It's a matter of numbers. Yes, national matches are tougher, but this is the reason...not because a "zero" tune isn't the goal of every shooter and at every match. Records have been and are broken at the local level...Do they not count???

Thank you Bart! You must've posted while I was posting...or talking to my wife...Lol! My tuners are designed to go down to about 4 ounces.---Mike

Bart, come shoot with us! I'm sure you'll beat my arse...bu I'll do all I can. Sadly, I sold my "old reliable" drop port and bought a Borden that I had built a couple of years ago for a friend/customer. That's not the sad part...The sad part is that I still haven't fire my new toy yet!!! I really, really hate when work gets in the way of my shooting...too much of late. --Mike

Why don't I come shoot with you guys? The below schedule keeps getting in the way. Everytime I try to work in a score or UBR match I have a scheduling conflict.

11 group matches (2 Nationals )
9 600 yard matches (1 Nationals)
1 1000 yard Nationals

What Hall of Fame shooter did you see get run off? There's only two of us in Kentucky. The other one hasn't shot well since he got ran over by a train in 2004. He's not representive of the species!

On the flip side of that. I know a lot of average group shooters that have become very successful in UBR and Score!

I won't say here. You can pm me...Oh, and I didn't say "run off". I've found that with two careers, as much as I'd like to blame it on work...it's mostly priorities. Come shoot with us!

No you didn't say "run off," but rather, You have seen Hall of Fame group Shooters go home with thier tail between thier legs from a score match. I'm doubting the authenticity of plural on Hall of Fame shooters. Like I said, there are two in Kentucky and probably 4 in a 500 mile radius. The others beside (Box Car Bill) were probably folks you thought were in the HOF.

I've got a packed schedule but I'll come play your game, however you have to come play mine. Fair is fair! Bring a friend!

Me too, Bart but I will do my best to come shoot with you guys as soon as I can. In all honesty, I've wanted to for a long time. There are currently 4 ranges within 3.5 hours of me and another just up the road that held matches a couple of years ago, and is supposed to again, but I don't know when that'll be. Correct me if I'm wrong, but St Louis or maybe Birmingham, are the closest registered NBRSA group matches.?? Both are 5 hours each way. We live in a hot bed for score shooting, not so much so for group.

With limited time and money, both, I really like the 1 day match formats for monthly score matches, shooting 2 yardages and being home that night. The score nationals are usually 2 day events. That's ok because there are only a few, even if you count IBS, NBRSA and UBR. The UBR game is great and growing! There are a lot of reasons I like it vs IBS or NBRSA, but like score vs. group...if that's what was being shot within a fairly short drive, then that's probably what I'd shoot the most of. The UBR 100-200 Nats are coming up August 12-13 in Somerset, Ky. I'll do all I can to be there! I use to shoot just about every weekend, somewhere, but with starting a new career, I'm doing good to make a few per year, it seems. I'll get back into shooting regularly again...and the sooner, the better.
