Now that's a whole 'nother subject, Bart. No...not group..only because we live in a score hot bed. There is no doubt that there are some big names in the group game. ALSO, I've seen some HOF group shooters go home from a score match with their tail between their legs . Why don't you come shoot with US? Now, I'm not talking smack at all. I'm in no position to do that! I started a new career about 1-1/2 years ago and my time is very limited. In fact, I've only had time to shoot one match this year so far! People that know me will tell you that I was a regular prior to this...at a few different ranges. That said, when I was shooting well, there's no secret as to why...Anyone that knows anything about BR knows that performance on match day coincides with practice. That's not even a little bit debatable....I don't care what discipline of BR we're talking about!(for any new shooters reading this, I promise, that's the MOST important statement in this or most any thread, on any forum, that you'll read anywhere!!!) Tuners, actions, bullets, stocks, nor barrels will buy you wins!! You must put in the trigger time, behind good flags, in match conditions to win consistently. You can cheap your way out of winning but you can't spend enough to win!!!
Now, we can debate over which is tougher..group or score..but that gets away from the subject. As has been said, and I agree with 100%, A GOOD TUNE IS A GOOD TUNE!!. The whole subject of tuners would be moot...and you wouldn't be using one if that wasn't true! The whole point of tuners is to maintain tune...period!! That point remains the same whether or not you move your tuner or just use if it were a a barrel with a bulge at the muzzle and tune that barrel traditionally..to which I don't see all of the point. It remains the same, whether the game be group or score....and it remains the same, regardless of who's there.
From what I've seen, the single most important difference between a "national level" match and a club level match is how MANY people are at the big matches. At a local match, you may well have some of the same shooters there as a "national level" match, and one or two shooters really be on "their game"..or possibly "tuned up", on that day. At a " national", everyone comes out of the woodwork and you may well have several different shooters that brought their "A" game. It's a matter of numbers. Yes, national matches are tougher, but this is the reason...not because a "zero" tune isn't the goal of every shooter and at every match. Records have been and are broken at the local level...Do they not count???
