I always figured that Crows were on top of the smart list, maybe just the young ones are stupid!!!!!
I had been fire forming brass for my new XP-100 6.5x47 Lapua Ackley with 120 Lapua's, and had fired 36 of them out of the FF barrel at a pretty fast clip. Popped another one in the chamber and then noticed a crow land in the tree above the 100 yard marker. Stuck 4 boards under the front rest to gain lots of elevation, and held on the bottom of his, or her's belly and touched the Jewell trigger one more time, and down it came.....

Bastards ate all my strawberries and they pulled all my sweet corn out. They are indeed varmints and need to be controlled.

Crows would pull up the new corn stalks looking for worms. They see you with a shotgun and they were GONE!!

Put a rake over your shoulder and walk to the garden and they stick around, put a shotgun over your shoulder and they are long gone..

Apparently the Mexican crow is in short supply and someone actually seemed to care about them. I think the US came up with a crow season just to appease the Mexican Govt. Crows used to be 24/7/365 until that Mexican crow deal.

Ney York has a season, and you can kill them with anything that suits your fancy, but could never figure out the deal with Mexico about that...
The deal with Mexico is like all our other deals with them. We lose, they smile all the way to the bank. I know a young man went to Mexico last year and shot ducks in numbers that no way is allowed here in the US. Migratory bird?? That is a joke. I'm in WI. and there are as many here in the winter as summer. Good job Preacher!

50 CFR 21-43. "If they are committing or about to commit depredations on ornamental or shade trees, agricultural crops, livestock, or wildlife, or when concentrated in such numbers and manner that they are a health hazard or other nuisance..
I'm sure your bird fell into this category..
When is a crow not doing the above??
