Sending postal money orders

I'm with you on this. Also, It takes a while but, the P.O. will pay. Pay Pal is a great option unless you sell a lot of things and always claim it as money to family member or gift. They do keep track...Don't ask how I know. LOL.

The fees PayPal charges is well worth the protection they offer. It's insurance, just like we insure everything else in our lives.

On a important note, I always send PayPal funds as a "PURCHASE". I suggest people send me funds the same way to insure the purchase/sell is 100% legitimate.

This usually scares off the scammers "instantly". If they continue to demand payment be sent as a gift (with me adding 3%), well, if it smells like a rat, it usually is.

nmkid: I understand your statement. If you follow their rules, which really protects you, there will be no issues with PayPal. I have stated before that I have used PayPal starting years ago with Ebay. I have not had any questionable transactions with them. But if you receive too many gifts, expect a call or letter. Many people that have had transactions with me have been busted by PayPal, too many gifts were being sent across the country. I state this because the one sending the funds is the one who will be disciplined by PayPal. I know I have been audited twice by PayPal. Everything was in compliance as it is today.

M-61 I am not hemorrhaging over anything. I am simply getting advice and it was no one on this site.[/QU
Jon...it is meant to mean "No more bleeding MONEY". Older phrase from another business altogether.
I know it is not this site but I have had 2 people try and scam me for thousands of dollars on craigs list where they try to get you to ship something and you are supposed to deposit a cashiers check which is bogus and when it goes thru the process your bank doesn't get paid and you are debited the amount!! I still have the cashiers check and I took it to my bank and they advised me that all law enforcement agency's won't do a thing about it!! So I don't think you would get any help from the Federal Government Going after any one inless you could show them to be doing this over and over for a lot of money! RW

I really don't know how Craigslist is still in business.

I quit even looking there years ago.

WAY too many scams going on there, both selling and buying.

It is a total joke as far as I'm concerned.

But... but... everybody says use a postal money order because the postmaster and his FBI buddies will kick in your front door over a five dollar purchase gone bad, tossing you in the federal pen for mail fraud and throwing away the key, because the postal money order is a bulletproof method with the full force of the federal government backing it up!

A person with one of the major agencies told me they won't waste their resources on something small like this. They spend their time on much bigger cases.

I have sold a lot of stuff over the years on craigslist and bought items also.Usually all face to face locally.Scopes, brass, trucks etc. Scammers are lurking everywhere looking for a quick and easy buck.I see their ads and hope no one bites on them. I can't prove they are not legit or I would ask the site to take down the ads.I got bit for $650 this year on armslist and it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth afterwards.

I actually received the brass I paid for today ,yee hee! Now Should I make him wait till I get my refund or just bite the bullet and pay him minus the charge?

Yes, I'd make him wait. Why should you be out more money until the Post Office refunds the money order. His mistake, he waits.

Jon there is no right or wrong here. No tit for tat, do what your heart tells you. Just remember, we all make mistakes....

jonbearman, you are a good man, let him wait till you get the refund, tell him and he will be relieved and happy. We all know how this feels.
