Your definition of “building” a rifle

If you did most of these steps you built it.

If you bought all the parts ready to go and just had screw it together you assembled it.

After I turned 60 my wants & needs led me to assemble various parts into rifles. 22's at first and then centerfire. Fajen stocks, aftermarket barrels, triggers, scopes, bedding compounds, etc. Not having a machine shop has led me to become friends with a select few that can flute, chamber, thread. and weld. I have come to appreciate the work entailed in "assembling an accurate firearm" and am more than willing to benefit from the skilled labor of others but, really enjoy "making" a rifle that is pleasing to the eye and above all accurate. Now that I'm about to turn 77 I get great satisfaction in going to the range and shooting small groups with ammo that is assembled by me in various rifles assembled by me.
