^^^ This for me also. Don't forget the steering wasn't power, the windows cranked up and down, air conditioning - roll down the windows, A.M radio was all there was. Spare tire was full size and the jack was down right dangerous, This list could go on and on.
Young people look at you like you are crazy when you tell them about these things.

I am real olde and sweet young things think I am real cute but that is as far as it gets.

I remember the first time a good looking young gal behind the counter called me "sir".

And walking through a mall one time there was a mom and her teenage daughter. I smiled in their direction and the daughter ignored me and the mom smiled back!

Those were both about 40 years ago, but just last hitch I was walking down the hall in camp and another dude probably in his 40's was walking in the other direction. As we passed he nodded and said "hi pops". That really took me aback, first time I've been called that!
