XP 100 scope base?

I've had a couple of XPs over the years and made do with the standard bases with a variety of "handgun" scopes. All scopes have required me to hold the gun out as far as I can in order to get an entire, clear image. I'm getting tired of that with my 7BR XP (mid-stock grip) and wondered if anyone had found bases that allow the scope to sit well forward so a more comfortable, relaxed bent elbows arm position is possible?

Lots of the XP (SP) folks are going to LER "rifle scopes".
I also had the "reach" issue so I went with a rear grip stock. Finally got rid of the SP thing because of shoulder issues and the "reach" thing.
That issue went away and I finally built myself another SP on a Savage Model 12 "lefty" repeater action. Made it into a single shot, shoot it right handed.
Right hand controls the stock and left hand works the bolt and feeds ammo. Love it!! LER Rifle scope may be your way to go.

I'll have to look at scopes. Hate to because the on one it is so good. I always thought Remington made a mistake on the original XP design. Left hand bolt makes a lot more sense for a right hand shooter. Saves all the fumbling to load.

Leupold or Burris did make a extended base that moved the scope forward about 1". You also could use a duel dove base and extension rings and get it a 1/2' forward.

May also consider a EGW base and you should be able to get the scope forward quite a bit with it.

Put a rifle scope and muzzle brake on and you'll find a big difference in you XP.

I have 2 rear grip specialty pistols made with Remington 700 actions. They both wear SHV Nightforce scopes. Each has a muzzle brake. I also prefer the left bolt as well.

Muzzle brake and a rifle scope is the way to go. However if you still want to run the pistol scope id try an EGW base and then an AR scope mount like the burris PEPR that pushes the scope forward. It looks at little tactical but it would get it forward a few inches

Always figured the XP was a perfect rig for left hand shooters. I prefer the left hand thumb hole stocks.
If you're shooting right handed, you still have to remove your hand from the grip to work the bolt OR, reach across.
I built myself a lefty bench rifle that I shoot right handed. Right hand stays in the thumb hole stock for control and my free left hand does the bolt/ammo thing.
Pretty hard going back to a right handed rig after that.

The EGW mounts let you move the scope a lot more forward.

But most of us went to standard rifle scopes. works great except for the big calibers. I got nailed once by my XP100 in 7-08.

Shoot a left bolt in IHMSA Creedmoor position, when your right handed, a rig with recoil and the bolt will rake your ribs sooner or later.
It became second nature for me to reach over the top and run it left handed. Off the bags or bipod, a different story.

Thanks for all for your replies and suggestions. I really wanted to keep the current scope (an old 30mm tube Pro Series 6X40mm by Tasco, from back when they still made decent scopes within that series) that I've used on this gun for many years to take several deer and also used on both a TC .44 and .35 Remington. Still holds zero and has nice clear glass. When it gives up the ghost, I'll probably think about a more modern IER scope with an adjustable power range like possibly a Burris. Muzzle brakes are out due to the noise factor and regular rifle scopes put my face far too close for my comfort.

After scouring the 'net, I decided to try a Lion Gears pictinny extended rail that clamps onto the existing scope bases (mounting cross-bolts are movable for spacing issues). This raised the scope about 1/2" and actually made head position more comfortable. It allowed me to move the scope a bit over 3" forward which gave me a nice, relaxed, more forgiving arm position (rather than the rigid, outstretched position I was trying to avoid) and a clear picture. I actually cut 3" off the front end of the mount as being unnecessary and useless space. May not be the classiest mounting job, but it works!
