Rifle cope for XP-100?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. I recently got a nice XP-100 in 7mm BR. The previous owner included a Burris 2-7x handgun scope in the package. I mounted an old Weaver 16x for load testing, but I came uncomfortably close to smacking myself in the nose with it a couple of times.

Frankly, this gun needs something better than the Burris. I've shot Contenders (in small calibers) back in the day using rifle scopes, but these were .22 rimfires, .22 Hornets, etc. I want to hunt with the XP-100 and I was wondering if anyone here has done anything similar with a specialty pistol and has a recommendation for a good rifle scope with a generous eye relief that might work.

Specialty pistols site can give you excellent info on this. I have used a 12 x Leupold on a 6 ppc with a heavy barrel contour and I still pulled my head back a little causing reduced field of view in order to reduce the chance of getting hit. Muzzle brakes are used my most people using rifle scopes on pistols. burris did make a 10 x scope that had a shorter than pistol eye relief. Eye placement is somewhat sensitive on those models. I got two 7br Xp's one is bone stock it has a 2x6 Bushnell pistol scope. The other has a Hart fluted barrel with a brake and has a Vortex 6x24 rifle scope. I 've got other xp's with rifle scopes along with some savage strikers. They will work but you have to learn to shoot with less than a full view.
I prefer Rifle scopes. Burris makes very good Pistol scopes I just sold a 3x12 which I think is the highest power made. Leupold also make good pistol scopes. If your xp is bone stock and going to shoot full house loads it probably will be more fun to shot with a pistol scope a rifle scope will work but your going to get kissed a few time in the learning process

Thanks, I expect that you're right. I'm working with the Burris and it's probably best to stick with it for the time being. The gun is stock, no brake. I can manage a rifle scope on the range, but I know I'll end up smacking myself in the field!

I run rifle scopes on all my pistols, however everything except a 17fb and 6tcu has a brake on it. With a brake I have no problem getting a full field of view even with my 7-300 Win mags.
