x-caliber barrels

To all those that chambered a 22 caliber barrel: What size reamer bushing did you use?

I used a .2192". I heard others use considerably smaller. Just wondering the bore size consistency.

Butch...I've been finding out the same...most 22 cal barrels are .2182-.2186. Mine is rather large I'd say...seems like it wants to shoot though.

As per article 157.03 A-21 in the Lambert code book...That target does not count. It only has 4 groups... ;D

Just messin' around Butch :)

Looks like you gotta a good shooter there Mr. ridgway. I expect those groups will be tiny bugholes by the time you get finished with them. Great job :)
Looks like you have a 40X stock. Nice stock, but might try attaching a 3" Sinclair benchrest adapter to the forend if you want it to track better on the front rest

Yep, vintage 40x with rounded forend. I have the Sinclair adapter...just haven't drilled my stock yet to mount the adapter and/or machined swivel stud for bipod. I'll eventually get to it, lol.

I was able to get to the range again today with my 20 caliber 3 groove 11 twist X-Caliber barrel. This thing just keeps getting better all the time. The picture below is a 5 shot group, i pulled on the 5th shot because i was just so darn excited about the first 4 going thru one hole. ;D

My X-Caliber barrel from Apache is working great. 6.5 SAUM 25" heavy sporter contour. Barrel is providing some low ES with 140 hybrids and H1000 powder.

Target @ 100 yards in 5-6 mph wind. It started shooting well after 35 rounds. Barrel cleans up real easy.

61.2grs- 3037,3037,3030, 3037
61.5grs- 3044,3058,3058,3058

There is a barrel manufacturer in Kalispell Oregon named X-Caliber barrel maker. Does anybody know anything about this company and had any experience with their barrels? The barrels are advertised as what seems to be a very good quality and are priced rather inexpensive. Let me know if you have had any feedback on this company.

Thanks,

When you miss you could hit the target with your barrel.

X-Caliber Barrels is an independent barrel manufacture located in Montana. I understand a few people who were in the business elsewhere decided to start their own business. They started the business a few years ago, had a few bumps during startup, but are producing a fine barrel as we speak. I have used them extensively along with a few others.

I will state the barrels I sell are all checked for bore Concentricity. All I sell pass with flying colors including X-Caliber. I have built several tac drivers with their blanks and Pre-Fits.

A lot depends on who is cambering the barrels, and the tools/reamers they use. Plus taking a little pride in their workmanship also makes a big difference.

"APACHE" is sold on them and has chambered hundreds of them.
We have not had any issues with them at all. Well this statement goes for all the barrels we sell, even Green Mountain (their limited on their supply, that's the only hold back using their blanks). And YES, Green Mountain passed all the random bore concentricity tests. Only a few manufactures "didn't" pass.

APACHE and I extensively checked all the barrel manufactures out before making a decision to market their products. X-Caliber passed along with the others you see listed on the site.

If there were issues with their products, I wouldn't have them listed on the website. I will have to post pictures of some of my targets using X-Caliber barrels.

Please ask questions, we will be happy to help you in any way. Our current Pre-Fathers day sale is hard to beat. See our current add on this site. If someone want's a barrel, now is the time to get it. This is basically our "Grand Opening" sale which is giving all the opportunity to own the barrel they have had on their list for a long time.

Dennis, you mentioned concentricity or concentrically. Concentric to what? Not questioning anything about their quality at all.

Bore concentricity, a straight bore. X-Caliber along with a few others are at a minimum.

I don't want a barrel with excessive bore run-out. Really nobody does.

Concentrically-I will correct this "auto correct issue". Thanks, Dennis

Concentricity-correct spelling, sorry.

Concentricity or "bore run-out" is the first thing I check. If this doesn't pass, then no other test are conducted.
