Would you shoot this?

I learned the hard way why its called Stain-less and not Stain-proof.
It will help a bit though.

Yup... most stainless steel barrels are made from 400 series grades that have a martensitic grain structure. This provides good wear resistance at the expense of not being as corrosion resistant as 300 series grades. Many 400 series stainless steels will rust:(!

It CAN be done, but you better be motivated and patient!

Top one was the way I got it for $25. Had spent several years stuffed in a leather holster on a salt-water boat. Thankfully, bore and chambers were untouched. Ruger .45 Colt 7 1/2".

Bottom is same gun months later with barrel cut to 4 1/2" and lots of parts changed and many hours of filing and polishing. NOT recommended unless you enjoy it. I am a glutton for punishment.

My Grandfather took my guns from me if I didnt take care of them. If i wanted to shoot he took me so a good lesson was learned. I would guess some learn the hard way if at all. Just sayin.

3" at 100 is still plenty to drop deer out to 200.
Maybe, but we hunt in Idaho and sometimes shots can be much further than that. After all of the work, time, and money we spend on the hunt - what if he sees that trophy buck or bull at 300 yards? He will probably re-barrel it, but I think there is some reluctance because he isn't familiar with the process. Most likely I will talk him into sending it to a member here that will make it s shooter

That's what i was thinking.

Only the owner can determine if the accuracy is bounteous.
