Wolf Rifle Primers?

I know from past articles Wolf primers have had a pretty good reputation here on 6mmBR, are they still in good standing? I've never used them but I am about out of primers and need to order a few thousand each of s.r. and l.r. and want to be sure if I go with Wolf I won't regret it.

I have been using Wolf SR Mag primers in the 6BR and Dasher for 2 years. Seem to be similar to the CCI 450. About a month ago, I had a Wolf primer pop and throw residue in my right eye. I have stopped using them.

Yes, they work just fine. To bad your so far away i over order a couple of years ago and i have enough to do me two life times. I use them in the Dashers and 6.5 x 47 and the 7mm08......jim

Me too... never had a problem with them.. get great numbers with them as well. I have also noticed that the price as significantly dropped at Powder Valley.. I don't need any right now.. but may have to order a few more.

I tried them once, without much luck. Had a few that decided not to perform when they needed to [during a couple matches]. Will never use them again. But who knows ... they just might work for you.

I have had a very good run with them in 6 Dasher, 308 and 284 (3 different actions). Others I have spoken to have had ignition problems with them. Maybe their firing pin/spring combos were not suited or were weak???

Have used them all year in 4ar's and my 6brx. I've only had one not to fire and that was while fireforming my 6brx brass. The primer was lower in the primer pocket than all the rest. I also get single digit spreads in my 6brx and 600yd line loads for my ar's. 200/300yd. loads are loaded on progressive press so the extreme spreads are more in the upper teens to mid twentys. Hope this helps. If powder valley brings back the free shipping/no hazmat fees for 5000 or more orders I'll be placing another order.

The current SRMs don't like to ignite H335 very well. I, as well as several others, experienced this in AR15 loads.

The older silver cup SRMs didn't have this problem. I still like them since I've quit using ball powders pretty much.

I think we were getting about a 1% failure in the Small Pistol primers too. Wolf primers are still so cheap that I'll continue to use them.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll give them a try.

It's been a long time since I bought primers and there are so many more options now. The primers I'm using now are all CCI, which I bought retail many years ago and the price sticker still on some of the boxes is $17.99/1000, that's how long it's been since I bought primers, lol. When I buy them I buy enough to last me several years so I wanted to be sure the Wolf primers were still good-to-go.

That $18 per thousand is what Wideners charges for most flavors of WOLF primer. The downside is the hazmat fee.... so you need to order at least 5k to make it work.

I use them in my rifles with good results. Never had a problem but I have spoken with other shooters who have. Seems the problem was traced to not seating the primer to the bottom of the primer pocket. These are hard primers (cup) if not seated all the way in the firing pin will seat them but not have enough force to cause ignition.
