Wind Flags?

Looking to buy a wind flag or two. Whats something affordable that will be good for load development? I already have diy water bottle with a piece of surveyor tape..

Interesting the unlimited info on gear, but almost zero on wind flags.

The ground is nothing but rocks here in the desert. Any stand that must be pounded into the ground is a no go....

Search for Wind Wand here on the site, you may like what is offered. Or Ezell wind flags, I use them and like them. For hard ground, I use a cordless drill with a level on the back.

Regards
Rick

these are not hard to make, I got 2 more of these
since i got the garmin, i dont use the oehler anymore. I got the props off amazon, and made an adaptor for the tripod. the tape catches the light winds, and the props start when it gets heavier.

Graham winds are very good, www.Brflags.com

Learning to use flags will yield a higher percentage of gain than all other things. There is lots of opinions about different flags and what type is best. My advise to someone on buying flags, is get flags that you see are popular and stick with them. Changing flags mid stream is near starting over.

Which model? I'm not competing so for load development and learning to judge wind for hunting and long range playing.

That is the style i am interested in. I think looking at a daisy will give me a seizure lol

When Russ Haydon was still in business, he made some simple, yet very effective wind flags.
Aluminum arrow shaft, Delrin bearing, .41 cal JHP for weight, and surveyors tape on a video light stand.
Could be a good DIY project.

Go to a match and ask to look closely at the construction and design of as many different ones as possible as well as ask questions of the owners. A lot is personal preference but there's no doubt that some are simply better than others, too. I make an awesome flag and would encourage you to do what I'm saying but be sure to get a look at mine. It's somewhat geographical but I sell a ton of flags so it shouldn't be hard to find someone with mine that would be happy to let you check them out and answer questions. You're welcome to give me a call but nothing is better than talking to owners and getting their opinions. I've been terribly behind but I'm starting to get caught up and should be in good shape again fairly soon on them.
I'll post a link. My site is dated a bit and I need to fix that but you'll get the idea. Thanks!--Mike

THese will work on any terrain

More about Keeney wind flags:
Danny sponsored two flag rotations at the NBRSA VFS nationals at Raton earlier this year. He makes wind flags for one of our major benchrest retailers, too, so if you buy flags from that retailer, you're buying Danny's flags.
Features include weighted stands that don't fall over in high winds, flags that are built to last for many seasons of competition, and bright orange/green materials to show what the wind is doing.
Danny's wind indicators are outstanding, as well.
