Win 1400 12 gauge to 16 gauge conversion

I recently bought a win 1400 action in 12 gauge. I am kicking around the idea of turning it onto a 16 gauge. Has anyone done this? I know the barrel is a direct fit, and I will need the 16 gauge magazine throat parts. Will the 12 gauge bolt work? Are there any other parts I would need to swap out?
Thanks!

Have you priced 16 ga shells lately? On average about $10 a box more than 12 ga. I don't think I would personally do it, I would think the 12 ga bolt would work, But maybe not. What would be the reason you want to do it?

Even after replacing the barrel and bolt you would still have figure out how get it to feed. It would need a 16g mag tube, appropriate shell latches etc. Buy a 16g gun..

Can be done. Receiver is same as a 12ga. You'll need a 16 ga bolt head really hard to fing, bolt slide ( bolt body) and extractor is the same as 12ga. You'll then need 16ga slide supports for your trigger assembly.l, left and right sides. Lastly you'll need a 16 ga magazine throat, there are 2 different ones a 2 PC for older guns and one with a notch in it for the mark II. There installed by removing the magazine tube, tubes and internals are the the same for all gauges. Also the obvious 16ga barrel. Most 1200 and 1300 parts will work as well. I recently bought a Ted Williams 300 16ga parts kit with everything but receiver. Planing on doing same thing.

Guns in this class are what I call toasters. When they quit making toast, get a new one. The high wear parts for these has dried up long ago, and they were not engineered well in the first place.
