Your timing couldn't be better, then.Dog goes to race.
Beats horses.
Horse owners say it wasn't the right race.
My point is that my barrels are beating "premium" barrels nearly every weekend somewhere in America. Do they beat ALL OF THEM? No.
This is very true.Im not commenting on wilson but I would not look to F Class to make decisions on equiptment, other than F Class specific eqiptment like the stocks used. And PRS would be the last place Id look to base decisions. Since we measure precision by group size and theres only one competition that you win by shooting the smallest groups, thats the only place to look in my opinion. Many F class shooters I know also look at whats happening in Br to make decisions on things like actions or barrels.
How many are shooting with Wilson barrels? My guess is few if any.Your timing couldn't be better, then. The 'Tack Driver IV' is going on this weekend. It brings 120 shooters and guns together from various disciplines to see who's the baddest hombre' with the best shootin' rig. The equipment list is always posted.
Good shootin' -Al

I was of the opinion that the Criterion barrels were button rifled.I just bought a NSS Criterion ss cut and hand lapped 24in 'match grade' heavy sporter Remage 308 for $325+$20 shipping. It is nicely finished and engraved. The chamber looks like it was polished. It has great value and only took 4 days to arrive after ordering, but I am not gonna argue that it can go head to head with a premium grade target barrel! It is what it is and will probably shoot better on average than I can!
troupeUrbanman, have you ever not tried so hard to not sell your Wilson barrels, there is always some comeback that just does not look good on your part. I do understand your passion for your product, and that is a good thing. Just don't go at it so hard. You sell a good barrel for the money and I hope you sell a bunch of them. I even bought a 223 barrel from you.
It is not a trap for you, you just cant help it to not comeback with something. Your, or Wilson blanks that you sell is a medium quality barrel for a fair price. There is a market for everyone, but there is a reason that the Wilson blanks are not at the top in the ultimate accuracy levels. The competitions that you mention are accuracy oriented, but not at the level of the BR crowd. Competitions bring out folks that wants to win and the folks that are serious about there accuracy just don't shoot Wilson barrels for their level of accuracy that they are capable to shoot at.
If I was spending my hard earned money, I would wait if I needed a few more dollars for the top quality barrels, even though I can't shoot at the BR levels, I would just know in my little old brain that I have what I feel is the best. Mr. Al brought up a very good point, stock a few 30 cal. 17 twist barrels and get a 30BR reamer. It won't hurt your overhead to prove your point about your Wilson blanks, get the 30BR barrel to a well known shooter, I am sure someone here on this great forum would put one through it paces and report on it.
This is a great forum where you should find a taker. I do wish the best and I hope the OP purchases one of your barrels, I am sure he will be very pleased, because you do sell a good product for the money and do back it up with great passion. Just ease up a tiny bit and also good luck with the old Blazer, it will be a lot of fun.
opps yes they are! But either way I dont think it makes a difference on cut vs button if both were done properly for a non-premium' barrel.I was of the opinion that the Criterion barrels were button rifled.

They do, and I've owned them. I have never seen a Criterion barrel advertised as Match Grade.Criterion makes very good barrels.
NSS puts that in the print. Maybe culled and hand lapped as he advertises? They do, and I've owned them. I have never seen a Criterion barrel advertised as Match Grade.
I wonder how many competitors are using them at the Tack Driver.
Savage has been doing barrel nuts for a very long time, And I have also seen some shoot phenomenal groups. I just don't care for Savages, There is nothing wrong with them, Just not my cup of tea. I don't see how there is much of an argument against barrel nuts, They work.I am not close to being a gunsmith by any means but they way I see it if the barrel threads and the receiver threads are properly mated and square then it would make no difference if the barrel is set in its correct spacing by a nut or by a shoulder. But as I dont own a lathe the nut is looking better all the time!
