Will this blow up in my face or no?

Rammac- case head to ogive or the point where the bullet could (but not necessarily) be expected to meet the lands.

Overall length of the cartridge (case head to bullet tip) is only needed to make sure it will function thru the magazine. Measure your spire point hollow tip bullet overall length and you will see they vary, but not from base to ogive.

Where do you find your definition of what COAL means? I'd like to know since I've never heard anybody describe it like you have.

thanks for the info, assuming these are 100yd groups?

Yes.

pretty impressive.... 105'F though? dont get up here in southern mb. canada.

Well, 105°F is pretty normal for Arizona summer, When it get's a little warmer, which it often does here, I don't like to be out in it, and for sure don't like to shoot much in it as the barrel heats up fast and cools slow making it take a long time to do much shooting. Anyway, note that's Varget I was using and it's pretty temperature stable, so one probably won't see a much change in performance unless the temp get's like below 45°F.

BTW, the size of that group isn't normal for me with that load in the factory barrel as I'd typically get in the .3's. It'd sure be nice though, to be able to consistently do .1's with a .308. ;) :D

boy are you lost
first you say coal is NOT COAL, and then you talk about base to ogive.
take a break

Make sure you understand what COAL, Case length, and headspace means, and go to the SAAMI website and check specs for your cartridge.

COAL does not mean case head to bullet tip.

Pwc - you might want to focus on making sure you understand commonly-used reloading terminology, such as COAL and CBTO. As has already been noted by others above, in fact, "COAL" refers to Cartridge Over All Length, as measured from the base of the casehead to the bullet tip, exactly what you claimed it did not mean. Cartridge Base-To-Ogive measurements are commonly referred to as "CBTO". Spreading this kind of disinformation is confusing at best, and could possibly cause safety issues at worst.

If someone is unfamiliar with a particular reloading acronym, the SAAMI Glossary can be a good place to start: https://saami.org/saami-glossary/. However, be aware that not all commonly-used reloading terms such as COAL and CBTO can be found in this glossary. A simple Google search can often be sufficient to find the meanings of commonly-used acronyms.

Thank you Forum Boss, much appreciated . Things were getting strange and dangerous , not what a new reloader(or seasoned loader) needs to be reading.

Go slow on working up a load. Please be aware that each powder and bullet manufacturer that does its own testing/publications has its own data or copies someone elses. Berger's is different than Hodgdon's and so forth. This is NOT meant to confuse you, but don't pull your hair out when you look at the second or third published data and see a big variance in starting loads.

Hornady bullets, use the Hornady book for reference, Berger bullets, use the Berger book, etc. These will give a new reloader a good start.
