Hi
Can anyone shed some light on the new 6.5x47 Swiss Match case being produced by Lapua?
I am toying with the idea of necking this case down to .224 to shoot 75 and 80gr bullets. If anyone has a suggestion how else this could be done, bearing in mind I need to reach a nominal velocity of 3000fps I would be gratefull.

Taffy,

I know it's a bit confusing, but the new case is officially called 6.5x47 LAPUA. There is a case produced by RUAG called 6x47 Swiss Match, but they are not the same. The new 6.5x47 Lapua looks more like the 6XC case.

It should be no problem to neck the case down to .22 caliber if you do that in 2 or 3 steps. With the new 90gr Berger or Sierra VLDs this should be an excellent long-range, low recoil option.

Thanks guys.
Am going with the necked down 6.5x47 Lapua brass which should be out here in a month or so.
A friend of mine uses the 6x47 Swiss Match necked down to 20cal. He's shooting the 50gr Berger at 4150 fps with no bother at all and is printing groups in the 2's. He is using the RPA action and a Pac-Nor SS Super Match barrel with 9 twist.
I prefer to do the same sort of thing but until someone comes up with a heavier 20cal with more BC, say a 55 or 60gr VLD I'll stick with 75 A-max or 80gr Berger in .224. Perhaps Todd Kindler might be able to help, as I love my 20BR with the 40gr v-max.
