.222 with heavy bullets?

I am thinking about rebarreling a bolt rifle. Anyone out there ever tried the .222 Remington with 75-80gr. bullets with a fast twist barrel? I know there would be a velocity loss compared to the .223 but I love the .222 Remington.

I figure I could seat a 80gr AMAX in a .222 case and still fit it in a magazine. Anyone ever tried this? If you have I would love to know what kind of velocity you were getting.

Steve here... twist in a 222 is too slow. My 40xbr has a 14 twist. I shoot 40's and 52's. My ar-15 has a 1.7/7 twist Krieger. It likes 52's the best but shoots 75's and 80's
