Why So many Golden Eagles and NF BR or Comp FS?

Dusty.....Thanks for the pic. Yeah, too me, it's a bit distracting but
above all the center dot is a bit large for close in UBR work. But
seeing how your dot is bracketed all around, it should work well.

Dusty, do you find that reticle is too busy for precise paper shooting?
Or do you not notice it once you get use to it.
I've asked a few others and they don't seem to mind it.
I also recently picked up an IOR-Valdada 9-36X Spyder for an F-TR rifle. I am not a huge fan of the reticle; it is much too "busy" around the aiming dot for target shooting to my way of thinking. I also have a couple of their fixed-36X BR scopes, which have a reticle consisting only of two heavy horizontal stadia on either side, one vertical at the bottom, and a floating dot centered in the space between, similar to the NF NP-2DD reticle. I like it much better for target shooting, especially when shooting against the F-Class target black. Nonetheless, the Christmas tree reticle on the Spyder is not a deal-breaker for me; it works, I can use it, even if it wouldn't be my first choice were other options available. However, offering another reticle choice or two in some of their more popular scopes would seem to be a good idea to me. Clearly, they already have target reticles as designed for other scopes that are much less "busy" in the center. I was thinking of picking up one of their 10-60x56 scopes, but the extreme weight (48 oz) would make it difficult to make weight on an F-TR rifle without major weight sacrifices elsewhere, although perhaps not impossible. However, the significant weight combined with the reticle choice and price have led me to re-think that decision.

Fuji, she said thanks. To bad your so far away she has been backing cookies and nut rolls the last 4 days.
I have all that handled in our family, and adding in the "Kalachi", nut
and apricot.

Now with the selling off of Vortex GE's, here's what I think. They are
being sold off for an easy profit since the price on them sky rocketed.
The high cost made it easier for people to go to the NF Comp. I won't
mention names but, there once
was a fellow loading up his truck with $900
GE's and selling them off at Ridgway. I bought mine for $1100, and could
now sell it for a profit, but I won't. I'll offer it up to the guy's and gals at
Anderson Creek first. Current street price on a GE is $1499. MSRP is
absolute bullshit at $2499. Generally this upper end cost is just a ploy
by the bean counters to let you think it's and upper end scope, when it's
not.

Kahles K 525 I has been the solution for me ( and a lot others in Europe ), the glass is premium and the SKMR-3 reticle are one of the best i have tried for LR and ELR shooting.
The 525 sits on my 6,5-284, in a Spuhr mount and has never failed to deliver.
I got a K318 I for my PRS rifle ( also in a Spuhr mount) and it has taken some serious beating more than one time but it's still working as intended.

IOR may be good, but i have seen a couple of them with mechanical failures, so i don't trust them.

When I first started shooting Vortex had just released the PST. It was popular on the forums, had good reviews and I had never spent more than $150 on a scope not shooting rifles much. The PST seem to have good glass, I had shot pretty good using the PST, however shooting 600 and 1000 yards the targets were not very clear.

Then reading more and my shooting was improving I decided to pick up NF NXS. The difference was night and day. At the shorter distances you might not notice as much as the longer distances. Not only is target easier to make out, it also makes reading the mirage much easier.

Save for or buy the best glass you can afford. It will do more to help improve your scores then just about anything. Do not skimp on rings and a pic rail, make sure to install them correctly. With today’s machining there is no need to lap the ring set. You can also use bowlers rosin for extra holding on the higher recoil rifles. My 338LM has a Spuhr using the rosin, I only have about 300 rounds on it with no trace of movement.
