Why Not Standardize the 6 Dasher?

Erik, The Dasher brass will happen …….. jim

I don't doubt it, but it has a higher possibility of happening if an individual(s) put in an order that would meet the minimum requirement for a setup/run.

I think Shiraz was onto something, but it might be Norma and not Lapua, but I'm not 100% sure.

I agree that the magazine feeding issues limit the Dasher's versatility. But it can be done.

Long range bullet selection is limited as well. However, I believe the sheer volume of shooting done by competition shooters every year would support a market for Dasher brass.

All good points made so far. This is probably the same exact type of debate that goes on with brass company executives when deciding on a new line of production :)

What is the business case for Lapua to make Dasher or another improved variant of the 6mm BR? Lapua sells most of the parent brass for the variants so they already sell the brass, choosing the BRX vs the Dasher will tick off the Dasher crowd. Then there is the issue of differences between the reamers made with the same name so Lapua could tick off some of those if the "standard" Dasher brass did not fit in some of the chambers cut with Dasher reamers that do not match the "standard".

Lapua making one of the variants does not seem to make much business sense, they already sell the vast majority of the brass used and they do it without the possibility of ticking off the majority of the people who shoot one of the variants. What is the business case, I easily could have missed something?

Good point Wade…

Put aside the "6 Dasher is the greatest cartridge in the world. All hail the 6 Dasher!" hyperbolic dogma for a moment. ::)

If Lapua made 6 Dasher brass, how much could they expect to see sales increase?

I think the answer approaches 0, as most start with Lapua 6BR brass anyway. It wouldn't be worth the tooling/administrative costs to do it, unless they charge a premium for it.

Part of the fun of wildcatting is building your own ammo from scratch. There would be quite a few that would buy 6 dasher brass if Lapua built it, also there would be people that would buy it that want's a Dasher but don't have the knowledge and orr time to f.f it. But I believe all the serious competitors would still form there own from straight 6br brass. They have there own reams ground to what they think is the winning chambering and f.f brass culls a lot that would not make competition quality brass, that would also hold true for pre formed Dasher brass but you might not see potential problems until multiple firings. I for one would continue building my own. I would much rather see Lapua build some .300wm brass and some wsm brass, I can always build my own Dasher, Brx, and BRDX brass outta the great little Br case.

How much would really sell? With the annealing trend that has taken place, I would seriously doubt that LAPUA would take on such an enormous expense. Think about it!
