Why is AR Comp the Red Headed Step Child?

When did they start adding that it sure wasn't advertised, the only thing in it was graphite .... jim

Like I said in the other post, I do not know when, maybe from the beginning, maybe later, I do not know. It has it now, and has for some period of time.

I have been using Rl 15 in my 223 rem bolt gun and would like to know if ARComp would also be a good choice. I shoot 69, 77 and 80.5 bullets from 100 to 300 yds mainly.

They sure don't say anything about it on their site.... nothing.....jim
Speaking as a manufacturer, depending on how long inventory is put on the shelf, it’s better to not mention too much when you’re trying to slide improvements into the product. If you claim it’s an all new version then weird things can happen on the retail side.

Yes. Its about a grain faster. Try it. It is pretty much ideal for that application

I see that was posted 2018, I never shot it then and my RL- 15 is older, way older the only thing people had a grip with was it was dirty and temperature sensitive. Never had an issue with either but I was on the high end of it in the Dasher. Varget was dirty and I ran it up to 3100 with a 103 and it never got any better, but it didn't shoot up there anyhow..... jim

They sure beat the drum on the stuff they do today, but RL-15 has not one time said anything was added but the new powders they do...... jim

By a grain faster do you mean use a grain less ?
Yes to get the same nodes from my testing depending on the cartridge you're using 1/2 grain to one grain less powder essentially the same accuracy node. I find the burn rate is almost exactly the same as 4895. But it might be a tick slower than that actually not quite as slow as reloader 15 or bargain but really close

I stopped at Bass Pro Shop and picked up a 1# of imr4895 to try in my PRS 6br. I had a 1# bottle of AR Comp in my hand also thinking I may try it in my .223 AR and even in the 6br, but I put it back on the shelf. I'll do a little more research and if I think it's worth a try I'll stop by and pick up a pound.

The real test of a decoppering agent is how long will the barrel shoot before accuracy falls off. I find that I haven't actually hit that number with my Brux barrel and AR COMP.

I tried out Ar comp in a new dasher barrel. 30.2g got me to 2950 and 30.5 to 2980 with a 105 hybrid. Seems right on the edge, getting occasional pressure. Sd’s and es in good range. Accuracy right there where I want it. The barrel may speed up some more, so I may try a lower charge to get away from pressure. 100yd groups. Maybe you have a shorter freebore? That does seem awful low for a Dasher. That is a pretty mild load in my 6bra.

Is this a new jug? Or an old one?
