Why are there so many nightforce scopes FS in the classifieds ?

Title says it all. I see a lot of the high dollar $$$$$ Nightforce scopes, for sale in the classifieds, just wondering why people aren't happy with them ??

Maybe not dissatisfaction ,but sometimes buyers remorse
sets in after a while, or just the fact they have owned that
brand and want something else. If it wasnt for the constant
want of the consumers, sales would be in a lull all the time.

Havent you ever noticed when you have a few extra bucks
how you seem to want something to spend it on??

Then we have the consumer group that buys it today,
uses it, and sells it tomorrow, most of the time at a loss.
This typically is the buyer that has sufficient money. They
never seem to find that perfect piece of equipment, and
are always wanting the latest and greatest. JMHO

Most of the 32X and 42x BR and NXS models you see are people who have upgraded to the Competition model.

Updating to newer model?

When the 15-55 Competition model came out, there was a slew of NXS's for sale. Then you saw an inordinate amount of Competition models for sale. Now the "NEW" Competition model has arrived and you see BOTH BR Models as well as "OLD" NXS models for sale. I think now that the "problems" have been addressed on the Competition model, I think many are "upgrading" if you will, to the NEW Competition Model..

I just ran through a couple of pages on the classified and out of most ads I saw. I believe people got ones they didn't like. I see an MOAR reticule a 5.5x22x50 instead of 56mm. A lot of new models were released this year. Some people can't afford to just buy another one till they sell the one they got. That is just my guess. I don't believe it's because they had any trouble. It doesn't either matter because they are warranted just like the Leupolds. In 50 caliber shooting they are one of the few scopes that hold up to the recoil and clamshell so that proves they are dependable. Matt

A lot of people who got the 5.5-22s are finding that they:

1. are not the right scope for F class
2. are finding that they want a FFP for tactical shooting
3. are finding that they are over weight and generally over powered for a hunting scope
4. they are not FFP so as a hunting scope (or a tactical scope) holdovers only work on high power.

Nightforce has been belligerent in holding on to the SFP scopes and holding the price high when compared to comparable optics. (Look at the FFP offerings from Vortex (Razor) or Bushnell in the same price range andyou'll see what I mean.

[for the record I own a 32BR and a 42NXS]

Matt and Ben have it I think. They sell off the old model and buy the new, with the Comp model being upgraded it starts another swap meat..

They are a highly traded scope, but dont kid yourself, its a great scope and they never sell cheap. You will hardly ever see a 22x nxs sell for less than 1500. Every owner knows it is worth every penny.

For myself I simply need a scope with 1/4 moa clicks instead of 1/8 moa. The scope works great and has been utterly dependable.

Because high end optics retain their value so well, many people buy them very readily, knowing they can sell them for near what they paid, if they don't like what they got, or need something slightly different.

Spot on.....

They are just a very popular scope too,,,, think there are a lot in service, especially from the guys on this board.

I'm with the poster above, looking for a used 12-42 myself, but in a NP-R2 !

I can't wait for more 2013 Competition scopes to hit the used market. I have no problem with the reticles or the turrets. They were selling new for $1600 at one point. Can't image the used market fetching much more. They are a great deal at those kinds of prices.

There are ALWAYS those that think that a new 'gadget' will improve their shooting!!

In most cases....THAT ain't the problem!!

The shooting season for some has ended and it will be several months before the cold weather leaves and matches start again. Perfect time to sell a scope and upgrade.

I have a nightforce competition for sale because I want a different reticle. Sell and buy another one similar is less money than having NF change the reticle. --Jerry
