What's With Nightforce Scopes

Shynloco

You can lead a horse to water, but ........
Hi All,
I monitor the Classifieds daily and it strikes me that I'm seeing a large number of Nightforce Competition Scopes up for sale. Not long ago, you'd see one or so a week. But now it's almost daily. Is there something going on with these Nightforce scopes or just people selling off what many consider one of the best and most used scopes because it's top notch. Just curious!

It seems about the time when guys "make a change" in thier equipment. It may be that. I'd like to know why they decided to give away a gun instead of just lowering prices on thier anniversary.

All the replies above plus you do know about the "controversy" with the comp recently dont you Alex? Issues with holding zero. Im not sure what the latest on this is. I have several BRs i have confidence in.

Interesting guys to say the least. I truly appreciate the responses as I don't follow the Nightforce brand..too expensive for my wallet. But I believe it's informative to those who would pick up a specific scope and know of potential problems as reported above. Going to the range in the morning to zero and test out my new Vortex Golden Eagle that just arrived. I actually sprung for it based upon the recommendations of some of you folks up here. Wanted more magnification and WOW, this baby definitely has that. Thx to all for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. This site is still the place to come to get the STRAIGHT scope with less BS.

Been some POI issues reported with the Comp model.
Check out this thread: Scope Testing for more info and results.

The NF BR and NXS models continue to be proven work horses !.!.!

I have 3 of the 15-55x comp models and haven't had any problems out of them. - Not saying that there hasn't been issues with others but I'm sold on them as of now. IMO they are one of the best scopes out there & I have 3 March's as well.
One scope that has really impressed me is the Sightron SVSS 10-50x with the 34mm main tube & the MOA reticle - The weight is substantial on them but I believe they surely would provide good service on a heavy gun where weight restrictions isn't a factor.

I to spent Days reading and a few PM's. I end up with a GE. I was at the Range and ran it up, down, over and out.
I was sold. I have #2 on the way.
The Military Discount does Help .

Ron wish you would have jumped in on my Sightron Post

Maybe it's the unseen environmental conditions and the bullets and shooter more so than the scopes....

Well I'd have to say that is definitely part of. But there is an old saying from tears past..."You can't hit what you can't see." And yes the environmental conditions figure into how well or accurately we shoot. But this morning, I was actually amazed and so happy with my new Vortex Golden Eagle in seeing the target in a new light (no pun intended) as compared to what I was seeing using a Weaver T36. And I'm not bashing a T36 because it's a great scope for the money. But since moving into more powerful scopes, it's not only easier and clearer to see the target, but it is easier to concentrate on a specific POI. But I do enjoy hearing from people who have various makes of scopes speak positively about the attributes of the equipment they use. Sometimes its those minuet details that another member may be looking for, but is unable to articulate it in terms of what they are looking for or may not be aware it actually exists in another brand.

I know that the NF Comps show up a lot on the stuff to win tables at shoots. I think that is where at least some of them are coming from in the for sale section. I had one that worked perfectly for me and it's new owner as well. Beautiful glass..........I jumped ship to 3 Marches and am very satisfied with them....;)

I am thinking about cranking up again next year. I have NEVER felt under gunned ( :) ) in the scope department with my NSX's and BR's. I do not see anything changing anytime soon!!

But, on the flip side....it's been a few years since I looked through the best and brightest. When I quit the 2nd gen NF Comp model was coming out because lots of guys thought that the dot was to big on the original model.

We'll see!!
