Who's got a new truck ?

What do you Ram insiders think of the Classics and Warlocks? Do they have less shit in them to break? Is the 6 cylinder lame for a daily driver that does very little towing? The fact that I can buy one new for around $40k has piqued my interest. I can get over the Quad Cab and older body style for the $25k+ saved.

I'm in the market for a new truck as well. I have a 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax (LBZ) I bought new that now has 155K miles on it. It's been an excellent truck and still is. I've looked at everything and can't decide since the the price of trucks have become stupid expensive. Some things that concern me are:

1) Chevy fuel management and the engine issues it creates to make better MPG
2) I don't want a V6 in a full-size truck (Was looking at a Tundra until this)
3) Diesels have too much smog equipment on them

Are there any models of the gas chevy v8 that you can get without the Active Fuel Management? I've had a couple of friends with late model Silverado 5.3's that had their motors pretty well destroyed by an issue with this. Always been a GM feller, but this scares me.

You guys are funny! My last 3 trucks have been Ford, I've traveled a LOT across the country do major catastrophic insurance claims work, never had a breakdown, nope, not one. I usually put 200k on them before trading because I couldn't afford a breakdown (people with flooded or tornado damaged homes don't want excuses). My current "new" truck is a 2019 F150 King Ranch, massage seats that include heat and cooling, and so much more. I've had it 3 years and sadly I had to put brakes on at 80K miles. The last 2 trucks have had the 3.5 TT engine, some of you don't realize that diesels have turbos and are proven components. My friend had a dodge eco diesel that had some kind of recall on the injector pump that they couldn't get to repair it so no dodge for me. The new Tundra looks good but like previously they had the V8 that got 12-14 MPG and that sucks.
Okay, jumping off my soap box and you guys can start hammering on me but I'll throw a chain in the bed to pull you home :p:cool:

I'm just sitting around waiting for my '23 Yukon XL w/ 3.0 Duramax to be built. We ordered it roughly 6 weeks ago.
Current vehicle is '13 2500 Sierra Dmax w/ 116,000.
It's unbelievable how much prices have skyrocketed over the last 4 years.

Cut me and I'll bleed Blue. We have a 2019 Ram 2500 crew can medical responder truck at the fire department with a camper shell and a pull out loaded with gear in the bed. We also put moto metals on it. Gotta roll up on scene in style lol. Seriously though it is growing on me. With the 6.4 it will light the rears tires rolling if you stomp it. This truck will haul tail. Average mpg is like 8 but it's not driven light footed either. I personally would like to try a 7.3 Godzilla truck. My beater daily driver Jeep liberty only gets 15mpg.

My brother in law bought his 2019 f250 diesel right before I bought mine. Mine is a gasser, his being a diesel and also fully loaded was quite expensive. When he sat down at the table to settle the payment details, he had a woman that was a real looker. She sold him on everything that was available LOL. His payment was 1K a month!! Glad I went to a different dealership.

No new truck for me yet. I have 2003 Ford turbo diesel with 145K. I will buy a new truck if only somebody buys mine for $90 k. Otherwise I am not buying a new truck, I can't afford it.

GMC all the way for me. i had a ranger, that isnt a truck! way too small.
f150 got stock in wet grass, had to let hubs locked all the time to save on that embarrasment!
to a 2500HD GMC FOR 20YRS! love everything about it.

Rams...no way. took diesel to NY and listened to the LOUD Rattle the whole way! nobody could talk!
had a 2wd rental for a week and laughed when i put a 30pk in the bed and made it squat!
all the others were called wiggle wagons. they felt like the wind was beating you the whole time you drove them!
i agree, cheap was the only reason people bought them

GMC all the way

If you trade trucks very often buy whatever you like, because it does not matter. I am going to keep my pickup truck till the day I die so I drive a tundra. (BTW, a truck is a Peterbuilt, or Kenworth, not a pickup) My Tundra is an old '08 limited with the 5.7. It has 170K miles on it and drives like a brand new truck. The older Tundras have a really small gas tank (26 gal. and 6 gal of that is reserve) so people think they get really bad mileage. I average 17.5 over the last 100k miles. And I check it every time I fill up.

Since others have talked about older trucks, I'll take the liberty to do so too.

I've had only Chevys. First was a '71, then a '79 (C2500, 9mpg. Oof.) Then an '89. I think the '89 was the best of all of them. But no problems with any of them. Also in there I had a diesel 4WD Suburban.

My last one, which I still have, is a 2001 K2500 HD 7.4 Liter. Tows and hauls like crazy. But...

When I sold my '89 after 12 years of ownership and well over 200k miles it had no rust. Zero. And that's really saying something where I live. Now the 2001, granted it's 22 years old, but with only about 100k the rocker panels are gone, the bottoms of the doors are rusted away. The fuel tank rusted and leaked so it got replaced. Every brake line and fuel line had to be replaced. And now I have removed it from service because the frame is rusted out where the steering gear attaches. 12 years ago I took off the cab and bed and prepped and POR15'd the entire frame. Its as if the from rusted away from the inside.

I see Dodges around here just a few years old with wheel arches, cab corners, and door bottoms rusted through.

I’m with you! I bought my first ever “not work related” new car at age 55. It’s a 2012 Toyota Sequoia. It has 65000 miles on it so far and I’m thinking about being buried in it. I moved to Texas in 2019 and looked at a truck. They wanted 60k for a new Ford and offered me $15 k for my Sequoia. I laughed at them and went and bought a small trailer to haul stuff for $1500. They want WAY too much for a pick up, these days.

Still driving my '04 (10/03 build date) Ranger XLT SuperCab, 4WD, 4.0 SOHC, 5R55E, 4.11s, factory tow package. Have kept fuel logs since the day I drove it home, 19.8mpg then, 19mpg today @ 130k. Have hauled our 20' Hewescraft ProV (4800lbs on the trailer) well over 15kmi with it.

According to many it should have blown up <60k (timing chains). Doesn't leak a drop, oil changes every 3K, 99% highway miles, and I don't baby it.

Planning to pull the engine in a week or two to do chains/cassettes, tensioners, balance shaft, yada, yada, simply for "preventive maintenance". ;)
