Which scope for 600 yd F Class?

You'd like the NF comp...all around one of the more popular ones out there in F-Class
and relatively light weight. I had one and I liked it. However im a one eyed Pete myself,
and the Sightron SVSSED is what works for me ..Yea its a boat anchor in weight, but I really like it.

Hey everyone, it's time to pick the collective brain of accurateshooters haha

I just finished building up my midrange F Class rifle - Kelbly's Atlas with a .223 Wylde 27" Hawk Hill 1:7

I am at the point of deciding on glass and am a bit torn between the following:
  • Delta Stryker 5-50x56 (top pick other than CS being out of Poland - heard the reticle is pretty thin and non illuminated)
  • The new Athlon Ares ETR UHD 15-50x60 (very new model for them, might need some refining after initial release)
  • Trijicon TenMile 5-50x56 (really wish they had the floating dot in MOA)
  • Sightron - I want to want one, but I can't seem to find the right mix of features (floating dot, 1/8 MOA, zero stop, illumination)
My main considerations are glass quality with an astigmatism, available elevation travel so I can have a clear and effective zero at 100 and 600 yards (it is going on a 20 MOA rail - ballistics show around 14 MOA drop between 100 and 600 yards), hash mark reticle with floating dot would be ideal, I suppose I could live without the floating dot but holdover hash marks are a necessity. Illuminated would be nice for the black F Class targets on darker days.

Is there anything I'm missing? What would you recommend? I've watched just about every review video and read every review post out there on all of those options, and everything has its pros/cons. Any and all input is much appreciated.

Thanks and happy shooting!
Justin
LanceXXX Has the Sightron Sale on Now.
You can't go wrong with Sightron..................I have 5 for F/Class.
Two things: Your eyes will tell you they like what they see. Second does it repeat on adjustment?
The 8x32X56 PLR with MOA radical is nice for what you what? or the 10x50x60 !!!!

After all of the input I will be keeping an eye on the classifieds for a used Kahles 1050 or Nightforce Competition. The $2k budget is pretty firm unless I want to do some explaining to the SO. As far as new options go I am leaning more towards the Trijicon as long as my rifle can make weight.

I greatly appreciate all of the input and advice from everyone.

I've run NF bench rest 8-32, NF Comp, IOR Valdada in 36, Sightron 10-50-60, Vortex Golden Eagle and Trijicon 10 mile 5-50. In general you'll want 40 power and up. As far as glass quality, I'd rate the Nightforce benchrest the best but the 42 power would be the best choice. The Nightforce comp and the Trijicon next with the edge going to the Trijicon due to what I perceive to be more accurate color rendition. Both scopes have very good edge to edge sharpness with few optical aberations. Next would be the IOR. The IOR glass is great but the support in the US is limited. Next would be Sightron. It's good enough but you can rarely use the highest power. I'm usually in the 40 power range with that scope. It is not the SVSS version. Last would be the Vortex. It does not have the level of glass that the RAZR scopes do. Either that or mine had issues. I don't own it anymore. If I were to buy new for F Class it'd be another Trijicon. The street price is 600 bucks less than the Nightforce Comp and the scopes are equally good in my opinion. Some will argue that the reticle in the Trijicon is too fat, I call BS since nothing is obscured at any distance. In my opinion the trend toward barely visible reticles has gone too far.

Just threw it on the scale and I'm at 15.4lbs with bipod and rings. The Trijicon would be cutting it real close as far as making weight for F/TR

15.4 = 15 lbs 6.4 oz + 38.4 oz = 17 lbs 12.8 oz = 3.2 oz left. to 18 lbs (think of the .18/2.9 oz as a cushion...).
Rings? Base? Sun shade?

At just under 40 oz, the Trijicon would put you at ~17.8 - 17.9 lb. As long as there isn't some additional weight that is unaccounted for, such as a mirage band, bubble level, rain cover, etc., a final rifle weight slightly under 18.0 lb is not a bad place to be.
Yep, I think I'm sold. It really seems to have the best things that I'm looking for, and will offer some versatility if I ever want to swap it around. I'll probably 3D print a lighter follower and grip if I ever need to drop an oz or two for whatever reason. I'll be shooting down around Houston mostly so I'll probably be using a sunshade and aperture ring at times.

I'd like to thank all of you for taking the time to offer input and advice. Now to get one ordered and get on the range!

I'm with you, like only a floating dot center.
The Trijicon Tenmile is almost the same scope as the Delta Stryker.
Really great glass for the money, as good as the others.
I've had 3, 2 in MOA and one in the Mrad.
I've kept the Mrad cause of the floating dot reticle.
One click is equal to .18 movement with the mrad compared to .125 in the MOA
The MOA retile is a bit thicker, F class John used one for awhile till the
March Majesta came out.
The NF comp might not have the best hold-offs for F class, it will work. (DDR-2)
The NF comp (FCR-1) is good, just doesn't have a floating dot center.
The Golden Eagle ( ECR-1 )will dim at anything above 40x, still a nice scope.
The Sightrons S111 10-50x60 have good glass, just as you mentioned, need a better
floating dot reticle. They missed the boat with their new 10-60x56 scope only good out
to 300 yds.
This saved me from a $2k mistake..
I was waiting on the new Field Target series with ED glass to come out but I shoot said rifle 600/750/1000yds benched. The 9-300 parallax would be a no go so thanks for that note.
I do however have a SIII 10-50 on my Pokemon Rifle - Its a Bergara 300PRC with Ivey base that I look to take to a mile someday. I really like the Sightron and since I don't dial the scope I spent money on the glass bang for the buck.
My 600yd/1000yd bench rifle is a RAP in an MDT chassis with a 20 MOA base. Right now it has a SWFA 20x Fixed scope (temp glass - looking to replace).
The only other good glass I have is a Valdada 16x fixed on a 6ARC build. Needless to say going from the SWFA to either one of the good glasses makes my eyes want to spew the good stuff right on the lens.
So I'm now leaning toward just buying another Sighton SIII 10-50 for this RAP as well especially now that they are on sale. I do kind of wish that their single power ED 45x had an MOA reticle as opposed to just a dot so I could hold (and not dial) when going from 600/750/1000.
I looked at other options from Valdada but they are $$$ and FFP. The NF benchrest scopes mentioned in this thread do look appealing as well but IDK if the better NF glass is worth the comfy feeling of another SIII.
Thx for all the info on this thread.

Match scopes are the best. I have one for sale. 10x-60x56, With BULZ EYE PRO (Booster) on it to bring to 80x plus. If interested send me a e-mail. tony_bera@hotmail.com

NF Comp, Kahles 1050, Vortex Golden Eagle and quite a few March models. All 4 also have floating dot reticles. There are far more NF Comp’s and Golden Eagles on the line than anything else. But I’m seeing more March all the time.

Not many guys worry about illumination. Unless you have a serious vision problem I wouldn’t worry about it. Older NF NSX 12x42 and 8x32 NSX, NF BR series, Trijicon are all illuminated.
Yep! All the above are good, I have the Kahles 1050 {very good glass, very small centre dot}, the Trijicon Ten Mile and now also a March Majasta with brilliant optics... $$$
Had to sell my High-Master 10-60 {also good} to help fund it... My High Master 10-60x56 was illuminated as is the Majesta but in bright light the illumination only slightly darkens the cross hairs and the Trijicon is the only one that I can see illumination on the cross hairs in mid day sun...
Heavy overcast, dawn and twilight are the only times that illuminated scopes that I own/have owned seem to work... I have a Lepold on my deer rifle and that is an illuminated one and it works great early morning and evening, don't really need it in full sun.
When it comes to scopes, buy the best you can afford and then go into debt to get that one that "you know you want"... The cost of scopes is reflected in the quality of the glass and the build...
From the days of race cars, "Speed cost MONEY... How fast do you want to go...???"

March scopes certainly are one of the highest price scopes, whether or not they are the best might be subject to who you ask ?
This is true, from a March scope owner of several as well as Kahles that I love as well and a Trijicon Ten Mile that for the price is a darn good buy. Power, glass and illumination.
Buy the best that you can afford as you can always add better things to your rifle and other gear but if you are stuck with a scope that does not do the job for your eyes, all else is superfluous...

You absolutely have to have a scope that does the job for you vision otherwise you are just sending a lot of stray shots down range.. I had to dump some lead shot to make weight on my F Open rifle when I added my March Majesta... Changed balance a bit but not much and to have that scope was worth it.
