Which powder cup / scoop are you using?

I have the Area419 scoop for the Fx120.
I really love the size and feel of the scoop, EXCEPT for the fact that its SOOOOO heavy!
Just the scoop itself weighs over 750 grains.

I'd like to find something similar, that's made out of a lighter weight aluminum or even plastic.
Seen some of those protein powder scoops and they look pretty promising.

Is anyone using anything similar?

When I was in my fly tying phase I would creep around the oddest places searching for the next source of fur or new high tech material to try out…

I have the Area 419 scoop for my Chargemaster, and it is substantial. Before you start window shopping at nutrition stores or headshops, you might consider first Amazon and Ebay under both kitchen products and scientific products. I'll let you do the leg work... looking forward to your results!!!

I really like my glass cup:

I really like my glass cup:

How much does it weigh? The glass one that came with my Autotrickler weighs more than the aluminum area419 one!

Dipper? Lee Powder Measure Kit. .3cc to 4.3cc dippers. Includes sliding scale to determine dipper needed for the powder weight desired.

Edit: I was going to order lab spoons to final trickle, but My Girl Friend said, “You don’t need that, make one out of a straw”. Got a clear plastic straw, cut the end on an angle, plugged the other end: works like a charm. Can even drop 1 kernel.

I use the Lee set as well, but I don't use them for the final charges. I select a dipper that is near the charge, then trickle up.

Been meaning to order one of these:

My BIL has an A & D and We have weighed powder together a few times. I now realize the OP is talking about the Catch Dipper that the scale dumps in and the trickler finishes off. I have derailed His thread, and for that I apologize.

A scale pan?

Danny

It weighs 52.965 g; 817.38 gr

I like that it's heavy as that seems to help with getting consistent measurements.
Is that truly the case though? I would have thought that the closer the scale is to its minimum capacity is where it would be the most accurate. With the Area419 or the glass cup you are zeroing the scale out before any powder, at approaching half of the scale‘s total load limit (when using the fx120)
I like the Area419 scoop, but I only seem to be able to use it with the fx120. And I am about to switch to a different method anyway and sell the fx120.
I did find some good alternatives though.

I have tried all the above and they don't hold a candle to this one IMHOIMG_20220228_162049958.jpg
Gabe's kernel catcher, light and a joy to use, John
Edit to add, I have my auto thrower off to throw some 4gr loads of unique, but it works great either way

Since I know little about scales, weights and measures, I just figure it might actually have something to do with it being in the the middle of the load limit. And maybe it also has something to do with me calibrating my FX=120i with a 50 g calibration weight??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I use the plastic cup that comes on the Pepto bottle. Shave the outside edge to get me to 24 grains. Wipe it with a dryer sheet to avoid static. I also know of someone that uses the paper ketchup cups from restaurants.

I snagged the measuring cup from a empty box of laundry detergent. It is lightweight, has a handle and a perfect size. Been using it for several years now. You could also do a browse in the kitchen section of the local store and look at plastic nested measuring cups. The laundry detergent cup is lighter though
