Which muzzle break?

Just picked up a remington 700P in .300 win mag. It's about 9 pounds with the HS stock. 26 inch barrel.
Figure I need to put a brake on it to make it something I can shoot with out being beat up.
Thinking I'll have the barrel cut back to 24 inches and add a break. But which one?
APA Fat Bastard seems to work well on his video. ??

If you'll be shooting off of a bench, the Harrells radial brakes work great. However, if you're shooting prone, you'll blast up too much debris. For prone shooting, the APA little bastard is the best brake I've used. You don't need a FB on a 30 cal (had one on my Edge). Personally I think the FB looks goofy on a lite profile barrel.

The APA LB is a great brake. I have one on a .308 Win and it works quite well. Your .300 Win Mag definitely hits harder but it should still be pretty effective.

Sell it and buy something you can shoot comfortably without the friggin' brake. There are many other cartridges that are at least as accurate, offer better barrel life, and will do anything a .300 Win mag will do unless you're set on sending 220 grain bullets downrange for whatever reason. In which case, get a much heavier rifle.

I'd rather you take a beating than the ears of your fellow shooters. 8)

I use a lot of harrells brakes, but lately have been using the ones from john1187, he does a really nice job on them and all I need to do it install them.
If the extra noise bothers anyone give them a set of ear plugs......

I have a similar setup. I have a Remington 700 with an HS Precision stock, HS Precision barrel in .300 Win Mag. and a Harrell radial muzzle brake. It reduces my felt recoil to what a .308 feels like. If you are concerned about shooting prone and kicking up dust, just carry a cloth to place underneath the bottom of the brake. My recommendation is not intended to imply anything negative about the other manufacturered brakes.
