Which gage is more beneficial?

Dear bozo699

No problem Wayne, I run into these same issues in the Tequila drinking forums and things like this happen all the time. Some knucklehead cuts the lemon slices too big and then sucks on them too long. Then things turn real sour quick and then it turns into a drunken brawl.

Actually whats funny is the Wilson case gauge will not work on my rifles below BUT the Hornady gauge doesn't care how fat the cases are. ;) (Bazinga)

ED if I ever run into you on the Tequila forum I hope we can be drinking buddies. Let's just keep the conversation on trivial things we probably agree on like politics, religion, etc. and avoid topics which are likely to lead to an argument... like case gauges. :)

You just don't know what a nice guy I really am, in the Enfield forum we had a postal shooting match and the Australians won. I didn't get mad or say a single bad word to the Australians, I just told them that the next day I went to the range with a special koala bear target and let off a little steam. ::)

Ed,
I am not sure what to say, right now I am having to hold my side together because I hurt from all the laughter but I think your being sarcastic again, or even worse down right suggestive so I just won't comment,...................oh wait I already did,....never mind,...I am off to work,...cya ;)

I would think that anybody that reloaded and kept tabs of the case headspace or base to datum line on the shoulder or cone to head length of the case would use a gauge to check it regardless whatever make or homemade gauge quite a lot.

Some people follow the instructions that came with their reloading dies.

And just a few days ago in another reloading forum a person asked "What is this shoulder bump people keep talking about"

And if you do a search under "fguffey" here you will enter a world of mystic powers and magic feeler gauges. ::)

Wow. I didn't know fguffey used feeler gauges. I use them to seat bullets that didn't seat short enough but may have to stop using them. ;)

Wow, I bought in and did the search...

Fun stuff. Why Charles Darwin was the first true reloader...

Many people do not understand my dry GI humor but in forums you are dealing with faceless strangers and some posters could fly a hot air ballon without a gas bottle and burner.

Right now at a cast bullet forum a person I have known for years on the internet is handing out information.

The problem is this person doesn't have a reloading press or even cast bullets.

It takes a while to find the "BoydAllen's" in each forum and know who you can trust to give good factual information.

Before gauges, you used your chamber to tell you how short to resize your cases and you went by feel.

All we are doing here is arguing about Ford or Chevy, and for some strange reason some people are getting hot under the collar about the topic. ::)

I know who the hot air balloonist are and "WHO" the case greasers are. >:(

It was a paper weight and pen holder joke you (expletive deleted) case greaser!!!!

Now get some sleep and don't read my postings when your tired. ::)

Is it bad that I see that case gauge and think hmm I could use that... Nope, already got the RCBS Prec. Mic for 30-06, so you can keep your pen holder.

I think seeing heated replies to subjects shows where improvements will be made. Fact is I learned how to reload at 9, and I recall sizing cases so the bolt would just barely close. This wasn't way back in the day, in fact it was only 1991. The original methods still work well when the newcomer wants to save money, and nothing will teach you reloading quite like using some old processes before upgrading your equipment. I've even been known to pull apart old 12V car batteries and wheel weights for alloying, but now I'm back to the internet for the safer approach.

Just remember, One man's chamber gauge is another man's pen holder...
