JJ Conway used to shoot a 22-250 at a 1000 regularly. Needless to say he did very well with it.
Another shooter I know has a 6 BRX, He uses his 6BR dies and says it's the easiest fireforming to make the cases. Thanks for the heads up, it's a logical choice and less recoil than 243 or 6mm Creedmoor. My 6BR dies would work and some use a 308 sizing die if the base of the brass needs an adjustment.
At my age burning barrels isn't a concernCalibers like the 243 & 6mm are barrel burners. If you want accuracy be prepared to buy a lot of barrels. I have a 6BR with 4100 shoots and it still shoots near 1/4" groups. Also have a new 6BRX. Good for 1000 yds with 105 g bullets. The case holds about 1.5 gr more powder than the 6BR so you should get barrel life if you don't push fps.
At my age burning barrels isn't a concernright now I'm considering 6 BRX or 6 Dasher. Might even be a second 6br. I can get a 6 dasher barrel now, but have to wait two months to get a 6brx.
Agree, while I shoot 1000 yds recreationally, it's even much more difficult than 600 yds. Skill is 90%At 1000 yrds the shooters skill is just as or more important as the rifle and reloads. If you don't have a lot of bench skill and wind doping skill you will never do well. That's why there is a short list of competitors that always finish near the top. You cannot buy skill.
