With the bench I'm using now, I solved the parallax thing by putting the scale at eye level on top of a 12"Hx30"L wooden cabinet with sliding doors that I used to store cassette tapes (remember them?) in. It sits on the rear edge of the bench out of the way. When not in use the scale lives almost dust free inside the box along with various other tools. Along with the ceiling lights, there's an "architect's" lamp mounted to the wall which can move all over the bench as needed to able to see. Before biting off on a beam scale I would advise giving serious thought to its location and lighting arrangement. One of the major drawbacks to the beam scale is the ability to repeatably see the indicator without parallax. This can be overcome by some of the inexpensive digital scales, even the Chinese ones on Amazon. One of the drawbacks of the cheaper ones is the small display.
Especially for people with eye issues eye fatigue is an issue that should be considered.
The RCBS trickler was too light for easy one hand use. Filled the hollow bottom with 5 minute epoxy & some #8 lead shot. Still a little bit light but much, much better than it was.
