Which Action for mag fed .284 tacticle build?

I am a n00b when it comes to bolt action rifles and am looking to build a nice tactical .284 Winchester to go with my single fed f-open rig. I am looking for an action that I can mag feed the 162-amax's - 180gr Bergers with. And would like to keep the total cost of the rifle minus glass/bipod to 1800$. I don't mind buying used but I am just not sure what to look for yet?

Will any 30 cal action work with a 284 bolt? Or do they have actions specific to calibers? Also can I buy Rem 700 actions or do I need to buy a complete rifle and re barrel it?

This Barnard SM looks like it might be a good deal if it comes with the trigger and everything for 1200?

284 built on a Bighorn action, 27" Bartlein.

The 5rd AICS 300WM mags work well, able to load 6 rounds.

Bighorns are great actions, very well machined.

I can't believe you would even post a piece of junk like that. You really need to upgrade. And Sell that rifle to me. ;D

I sent Bighorn an email. Do they only sell one action? Also I couldn't find any pricing?

Quinc,
Looks like they have two actions, their tactical and there sporter, I have never seen one but they look pretty nice, the tactical has its recoil lug .300 forward so you would have to do some milling work on your Remington stock, there sporter is a direct drop in on a Remington foot print it looks like, looks like they have .223, .308, and wsm bolt faces and with the floating bolt head like Savage they should be a really good action, but like I said I never heard of them to be honest, as far as pricing the price of metal varies so much and with all the Obammy /firearm scares the prices keep soaring and some outfit don't like posting them so they don't have to change their prices on there site daily, looks like you're getting some pretty good feedback on your thread and everyone has a different suggestion so you will have your reading cut out for you ;)

AJ Godddard, Bighorn, has been building actions for about 8yrs. Lot of us Colorado guys have been shooting his actions for quite awhile.

Have a SA as well chambered in 6MM Competitive Match. My brother has an older single shot Bighorn chambered in 6BR, it's almost boring to shoot!
