Which 4 Jaw D1-5 chuck for chambering?

Any issues with Chatter?
I have it on a SB heavy 13, it can chatter with a parting tool, I tested that a bit when I first installed the TBAS, I can part without chatter if the tool is properly set up, use cutting oil and proper speed n feed.

I quickly switched to using a porta band for cutting barrels, the porta band hangs on the wall behind the lathe. Non issue for me.

That is what I currently use, no complaints now... When I first bought it I was making split tapered sleeves to hold the barrels so I could do the crown/muzzle brakes. That got old real fast. I took some steel soft jaws and made a 3 piece set that lets me grab any taper, that made things much better. It’s pricey when you figure in a bison 6 jaw but i sure like the features.

Would you mind sharing pictures or more details of the soft jaws for the TBAS? That approach should work equally well on a set tru 6J, wouldn't it?

As I am about to shut down the garage/shop for rearrangement, I had most of the small movable stuff stored including the vertical/horizontal band saw. Now, I am looking to purchase port band in case I have a need for one, as I will keep the PM1440TV hooked up while the rest will be moved around.

Which one did you buy, how much does it weigh?
