Where’s the Bolt Magic

There used to be a bolt lube on the market called bolt magic, if I remember right. I can’t find it anywhere. If it’s no longer available, what’s the hot new snake oil for tight tolerance bolts?

Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. A life time supply for you and everyone you know for about $7.00. One small drop on the bolt and rub it on with you fingers.

Serious question...do you guys really lube up your bolts with oil?

Is there a concern with crap blowing onto the bolt, or into the bolt raceway, and galling the bolt?

Been using this stuff the last couple of years, I like it a lot. It’s much cleaner than oils.

Grease on the lugs. You can get it from Steve like Dusty said, or buy the syringe only and fill it with what you like. I’m using Lucas Red ‘N’ Tacky with good results. I’m sure someone will be along shortly to tell me I need a special proprietary blend made specifically for bolt guns or I’ll gall my lugs.

+1 for Lucas Red...I put in a small grease gun used for greasing the tip on chainsaw bars, works great.

I use bolt grease on the lugs, but don't lube the bolt body. I wipe it clean and dry, so as to not attract dust or dirt. Not saying I'm right or wrong.

this is for the bolt body. probably 99% of BR shooters use it. makes your bolt run twice as fast

Any grease for the bolt lugs works fine. Bolt internals, 60/40% ATF fluid sparingly. External of the bolt and inside action, Silicone dry spray lube.

I use marine axle grease. It is available in all sizes of containers including small tubes, is blue and designed for wet environments. I have been using it for the last 8 years and am very pleased with its performance.

Grease on the lugs and bolt lube (bolt magic, or slick 50 or whatever) on the bolt body. Not the same thing this is like slick syrup and doesnt keep lugs from galling
