Where to start/ no consistency on target

Another Salvage poor quality control. Bought a new 220 shotgun for an out of state slug gun only deer hunt. Put a Leupold scope on it and began sighting it in. Twice had a fail to eject a fired case. The second time it absolutely would not eject in multiple tries. Found out one of the extractors was stuck in the totally open position. Whoever assembled it subscribes to the "never force it, just get a bigger hammer" school of thought. Took the pin out filed and straightened it and reassembled properly. As a Remington owner I learned where the nickname "Salvage" comes from.

I took the stock off and I backed the bbl out completely out of the action. I could not move the nut. The bbl was hard to turn but it came all the way out. Could not turn nut by hand and don’t own nut wrench.

Did you buy it because it was inexpensive? I've owned quite a few Remington shotguns, 1100's and 870's. The last 870 I bought is a piece of crap, never would have thought it.

Bought it because they are supposed to be a shooter with the slugs. For what they are they aren't too inexpensive. I'm a rifle guy and not wanting to toss slugs only in a general direction when big boy shows up :D

I bought the 870 3" magnum Turkey Express / tube choke, 22" barrel. I won some Turkey shoots with it back in the day. I put a extended rifled tube choke on, took it to Ohio and shot a doe in the head at forty yards with a slug. Thing was accurate. That was a good functioning 870.

Called “sal vege.” They said it is under warranty and they wanted to see it. So I shipped it via USPS. $19.99. 2 day. I have to pay for shipping to sal vege. Yes “Sal-vege.” They should pay for shipping. Said it would be 3 weeks. Not happy about shipping or turn around time.
I had to send back a 17HMR earlier this year. When I found out how much shipping was, I called Savage and they sent me a shipping label.

Truth be known, when I called I talked WITH a guy and he told me to go on the website and fill out a form and I could print out a return shipping label. I went to their website and looked and looked and got frustrated so I called back. The next guy I talked WITH said he over heard the original conversation and was sorry and there was no place on the website to do such. Then he told me to ship the rifle back at my cost.
Now, IF I ran customer service at Savage Arms I would contact me personally and take care of the shipping. AND I would find out why the guy told me what he told me. AND I would speak with the 2nd guy as well. But that is just me and I don’t work for Savage.
Things happen, but how one manages the things that happen matter.

The last savage I tore down was flooded with thread locker, couldn't get it loose with the smooth nut wrench so I pipe wrenched it, even after getting the barrel off the nut was still stuck on the barrel as yours but when heated the substance foams up, expands, is soft and the nut would turn by hand, but it's hot.
That said I agree with Ledd slinger and would have bought the wrench and gauges and started building my own. Three weeks and $20 to tighten a nut and keep in mind they are the ones who messed it up the 1st time.

The only thing that impresses me in this thread is how he shipped a rifle safely packaged and with adequate insurance for only $20! That’s amazing! Well done there ;)

Let's break this down, shall we? So it's my fault a rifle I paid for screwed up? I get me being responsible for add on's such as optics. But a bbl? NO! Next time I buy a truck do I need to make sure the engine mounts are tightened?
As far as me having to buy go and no go gauges and bbl wrench to fix something that should not ever come loose.. I don't think so..
My good friend loaned me his Savage in 308 today so if I decide to hunt deer I can..
And yes, I was surprised that USPS was on $20.. Insured... The post office is only about 3/4 of a mile from me.. One stop sign..
Let's see what happens..

You said you have 6 savages and owning the wrench would allow you to rebarrel to a custom prefit or carbon barrel(it's the rage right now), etc.
I actually have an extra wrench you can have if you pay the shipping. Watch a couple youtube videos, it's really easy.

I have owned a few Savages and have dealt with their customer service department. They have always been helpful and made things right. Last time I talked to a guy there whose last name was Browning. Great to deal with and I was totally satisfied with Savage’s service.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
There are some very nice people on this site!!!

I am thinkin something was over tightened and stripped. As for a barrel nut wrench, I bought one and gave it to my smith. I don't need to be messin with barrel replacements. He does it all the time. Me? Never...
