Where Are The Shotgun Shells

Heading out for annual pheasant hunt in a few weeks and shells are still not to be found. Target loads and buckshot are about it. A little steel shot. After months I finally found a few boxes but it doesn't appeear the manufacturers are making a run of hunting loads this year????

I saw plenty of shotgun game loads online when I was looking but had trouble finding dove/target loads for a new 20 gauge.
I finally lucked out and ordered a couple cases. Shipping adds to the cost but at least I got them.

There are enough shotgun loads online but it might not say 'Pheasant' loads on the box. In the same vein, the box might not be labelled 'Dove and Quail' loads. But if you're looking for those types of loads and only want to pay $4.00/box, give up.

I've used my trap loads for pheasant and duck (before steel) then converted to steel to keep Game and Fish from hauling me off to jail. I used skeet loads for dove and quail. Target loads and Express loads work just fine in the fields but the prices have risen.

My Walmart and Sportsman's both have shotgun shells on the shelf except the selection is a little more limited and they are not cheap like years gone by. Look around online and buy what you need.

Yea no problem finding 7 1/2 or 8 but I like 5 or 6 shot. Wild birds with thick feathers! I found some 20ga but no 12ga. I have enough for this hunt but I though with Remington back on line that they would have a run for hunting season.

Definitely would like to stay with #5s if I could if you're a reloader Cabela's had alot of #5 shot in stock.... I shoot alot of shot shells for skeet but local #7.5 are about it in central Texas...

Our Bass Pro has been getting a good supply of shotgun shells. I managed to snag pheasant loads a little at a time over the summer. I also bought some Boss shotshells in number 5 for 12g, 16g,
and 20g. I shot some clays with them last weekend to see what they did. I think they are going to work great on some birds. They are expensive, but available.

Check Midway, also. I received 4 or 5 "in stock" emails from them a few days ago on high brass 6 shot stuff. I didn't need anymore, so I didn't look at them close.

just hit-em in the head. , sorry, had to say it.
i ordered 4 boxes golden pheasant in JANUARY ,got them 2 weeks ago.i love their #4's with a wider choke.i miss my share, i am not at all a good wing shooter! no lead streaks through the meat and only ever found 1BB as they pass through. @23/box!!! none left there
1 1/8 oz 6 is what i am trying now (all stocked birds) they are not really that hard to put down

I'm on the notification wish list for so many suppliers that my email box will probably overflow once shells ship.

I have seen pheasant loads on the shelf alot lately around here, so they should be coming back into stock more and more until something else happens. I wouldn’t be afraid of using steel duck loads on pheasants if that was all that was available. If it drops a duck it should drop a rooster.

I like #5 on pheasant, and #4 on very windy days. Our shots are usually on the long side, Kansas. We had no dog, so we walked them up. Choked right, 4's will kill very well way out there where they maybe flushing wild.

Figure 45-65 yards on the long side flushing, with 80 yard shots, not uncommon. 4's kill, 1350 fps.

Three weeks ago I was at the hunting camp in Georgia. Took the wife for a motorcycle ride to Butler Georgia. She really like a Benelli 20ga. auto to replace her pump. Tried to get her to like a Turkish one for 1/2 the price but no luck. Bought it. No ammo. This is Barrows' gun shop in Butler, Ga. They have everything except 20 gauge.

OK. we went to Americus. From WalMart to the two other shops - nothing. Couple days later we rode around to Dawson and into Albany, trying gun shops. None had any 20 gauge. Many told me they are and have been getting nothing from their orders. One guy told me of a shop that might sell me a box of something 20 gauge for $60.

Yeah right. I have no clue why but here in South Florida it is also hard but not impossible to get ammo. We got some here near home

I’m absolutely not a fan of this guy. He was making videos when he should be focused on the problem at hand. He’s made millions due to this and has had 11+ months to get it under control / ahead of the issue buts still runs his mouth about problems he says he can’t control. Sorry: Rant over!

Was at a Sportsman's club meeting on Thursday night. A local dealer offered the 20 flats of 12 gauge target shells, for the low, low price of $90.00 per flat. After some discussion we agreed to but it.
