Where are all of the Berger Bullets?????

Anywhere you go and ask about Berger, Hornady, Nosler, etc, all of the places do not have any bullets (including Midway) aren't taking any back orders, and do not know when they are going to get any in! I called one place up (no names please) and they told me they have had a standing order for Berger Bullets since January and haven't gotten any in. WHAT GIVES?? Could this be the end of shooting as we know it??

There around, you just have to look pretty hard. Want to buy ads work pretty well or trades too. I believe its from the hoarders that cause this issue with factory ammo and reloading supplies, and manufactures can't restock fast enough. Some guys just buy ammo and turn around and sell it to make profit. Sucks...

*looks over at my shelf* ::)

I may have had a lot of back orders out there. 8) If you need 185s (Jugg or OTMs they are the same bullet) I have more than I'll use this yr (and possibly next). Drop me a PM.

Berger told me their orders are about 8 months behind, FYI

The others told us about the same thing!

Place an order directly with Berger and then wait the wait. It may cost you a couple of bucks more but at least you'll be on a waiting list. Berger like everyone else is behind and working 110%.... I know it's hard but be patient.
Like another poster said do a WTB in the classifieds maybe somebody can let you have enough to get by.

+1 on dealing direct with Berger!

I keep a watch in Outdoor Outfitters and so far have gotten 3 shipmemts of Bergers since februaury .1000 juggers and 500 215 hybrids. They have the best prices and free shipping over 200 dollar order.

I check daily and have been able to keep supplied. Just got some bergers from PV as well. You have to check daily, in the mornings...

I've got 2000 80gn Varmint Match 6mm coming today that I ordered last week from Graf's. Also got 300 coming from Natchez coming today, along with 2000 CCI 450s.

Dennis

I'd rather be lucky than good!

I just got lucky at Midway USA. I ordered 300 Berger 80 grain varmint bullets in 6mm. When I followed the link just for the heck of it, it showed out of stock.

I bought the last three boxes they had I guess. Just lucky.

Seems like on the local level a lot of shooting supplies are starting to trickle in. The online sources are about the same. I know Midway has a contact you link when stock has come in and has been an effective tool during these tough times.

With Berger from what I understand they are taking a pro active approach and are getting some new equipment online soon to help boost production. I know I need J4 jackets for my bullet making business and cant get any from them. Because they say they need the jackets for their bullets themselves.

I for one have gone to some local matches with extra stuff I have laying around and offered it to guys who were out of supplies so they can keep shooting this season.

Hang in there hopefully things will get better soon.

Thanks
James

ALO,
The bullets are in the hoarder's closets.

Its suspect by many that ammo and components are being bought up by our Govt.
If all the manufacturers are producing at full capacity and the public is not getting any of it its all going to someone with very deep pockets.

I've heard that also from some very reliable sources within the manufacturing community. I've also seen and heard of some incredible volume purchases by individuals and the dramatic upswing of folks getting into reloading which is contributing to this shortage. Whatever the cause, sure would be nice if the shortage and insane buying would all came to a grinding halt. You can't stop evil people by merely buying up all the ammo and components around. But then I guess who ever suggested that the folks in Washington are capable of acting rationally or doing the right thing, must be a REAL sick puppy.

I have been trying to buy custom bullets from my regular maker. He says he cannot get J4 jackets. Berger bullets are hard to come by. Since they own J4, why are they not producing bullets for themselves first?? Could it be that Obama has directed that all contracts contain a "delivery by such and such " a date? That would force jackets to receive Govt priority.

Components are available sometimes. I have received Bullet orders for Berger Bullets from there dealers 3 times since March. I also just received a small powder order yesterday. Primers I just don't know about.

You are going to have to go about shopping for this stuff in a different way than we all used to. I right now am fixed pretty well and really have enough components to shoot matches for the next two years. Some of this stuff I ordered last year before the Sandy Hook thing turned all of this on its ear. The stuff I have obtained this year I have checked all of my suppliers on a daily basis at least twice a day. When the stuff shows up be ready to buy it right then and there. As an example I decided to build a new rifle, I had absolutely no powder for this cartridge, and neither did anyone else. None of the suppliers had a single grain of RL 22 and this was the powder I was looking for. I second guessed myself a dozen times wondering of a new build at this time was really a good idea. I kept checking every day though. Then on Wednesday a couple of weeks ago one of my suppliers showed in stock quantity's of RL22 in stock, there web- site shows how much they have in stock and in the case of RL22 they showed 2,092 lbs all in one lb containers. They had a limit of 10 lbs per order, I had my wife also order 10 lbs. I ended up paying two Haz-Mets for the two orders and I also had to pay shipping twice, but I at least ended up with 20 lbs of RL22.

In my case the least of my worries was the price, I wanted to shoot and if paying Haz-Met twice is what it takes I will do that. By the way they sold out of that 2,092 lbs of RL22 in one and a half days. They did receive another order of RL22 and some other powders after that order. I checked them yesterday and they showed 589 lbs, today they are back to zero. The gov't sure isn't buying from the suppliers we buy from and since these suppliers are selling out hundreds of pounds a day, it's just when stuff shows up folks are buying it fast.

If you want to shoot you are going to have to pay attention, when the stuff is available get it quick. If you don't the next guy will not be so foolish.

What these "reliable sources" apparently don't know is that the "gov" buys all their ammo on contract. That pretty much means ATK which operates the Lake City plant and owns Federal.

OK so that uses up a lot of components from that source but all the others?

NO, it's merely a factor of all the shelves getting emptied at a rate not seen before. The industry isn't going to go out and buy massive amounts of equipment just to catch up. They'll work as fast and as long as they can but what can you say when a years worth of production was sold in just a little over a month.

Run into someone who's "Profiteering" and wants to sell you bullets, powder, or primers at 3-5 times their usual cost? Tell them to stuff it!

I'll buy a slingshot before I'll support one of those individuals.

There are three kinda people. Those that are afraid that they will never again be able to get their hands on it. I believe that you should never show someone what you afraid of. Then there are those that are using it to make a profit and take advantage of the hoarders and the desperate. Then there are those of us who are just trying to enjoy our hobby. The best thing to do is support each other by not hoarding or profiteering. I'm hip I will buy a slingshot first as well.

Have also heard about non-existant supply of J4 Jackets from local custom bullet maker in my area.

The one thing that does NOT make the news is the various spin off affects of all this.
(Like custom bullet makers potentially having to close their doors due to lack of / unavailability of raw materials.)

Has anyone started to hear any reports of lesser participation in various shoots and leagues as a result of all this?
