When you feel the need for speed!!

So I have been playing with some 30gr Varmint Grenades and benchmark powder.

Here’s the load

.224 Barnes VG 30gr
38.8gr of Benchmark
Norma 22-250 brass
Winchester match primers
Seated .224 into case mouth.
26” m700VS 22-250

here’s the chronograph of the load. I was trying the satterlee method(didn’t work). My SD’s are chit. I used some Remington golden bullets in 22lr to calibrate the chrony

What's the twist rate for you barrel?

1-14. Those rounds will reach the target as well at least at 100m. I have another chronograph on its way to verify the speed (loaded 10rnds just to do this velocity test). This was based on the on the satterlee method. My first testwas with the newberry OCW. I got 3/4”-1” groups at 100m using 39.9grs of Benchmark
Just ordered a magnetospeed. Might get a labradar in the future.

Your only 241,700 rpm. You should be good.

I don't think a labradar will pick up a 22 cal at that velocity.

Cool me likey, the time of flight must have been real short.LOL

Dean
0.069 seconds With the bullets rotation and speed it creates its own worm hole to travel to the target. No need for wind reading lol. Stephen Hawking would have been impressed. Still want to verify with another chronograph though.

Canuckenstein, thanks for the report. Was impressed that you are knocking on the door of 5000fps.

I don't know what happened in the above photo, I shot off to the side of the crony to foul my barrel before shooting my group and it was displaying this.

Had a similar experience when my .17 Remington was logging 4,700 fps. Found out my Chrony wasn't completely unfolded so sensor distance was short. When I saw the reading I wasn't sure whether to be elated or scared...very scared!
