When will Primers Be Available ?

I have been reloading since like 86 ,87 and while I am not short I need certain types of primers liike small pistol and small rifle std primers, actually either or. When the need arose there were very few to none and I found a place where we can get some at 100.00 per brick. What we need is someone who is very well to do and is a business man and start a primer company and only makes that component. Then we need a powder company to help handle load as well as a brass company willing to make almost anything without it costing an arm and a leg.

I'd bet some of that billion back order is government contracts or for manufacturers of said contracts along with other manufactures which are 10yr contracts . My thinking is yes they have a back order of 1 billion but not all of them are expected to be delivered this year or next .

My $.02 , as long as Biden wins and the conservatives don't go all postal . Primers will be back in moderation by end of 2021 . I don't see any federal legislation on ammo or components so that should ease some minds . Gun sales on the other hand will stay big for as long as Biden is president .

If trump "RIPS" victory from Biden and the hard left . We may never see primers or powder available for years . The civil unrest will make delivery of many products not just firearms related items unsafe to deliver in many areas of the country . So they simply will not be available to buy online or at local gun stores along with many other daily essential items .
Biden's platform is to forbid internet sale of ammo. Will that include components? Probably.

Nobody knows the future. But we can make some suppositions:
— COVID will dominate the news into a new administration. Additional infringement is likely to be politically useful to republicans and open a Biden administration to accusations of not taking covid seriously. Remember, nothing suddenly converts Republicans into solid 2a defenders like a chance to fundraise off the threat of more gun control. That’s why the Republicans actually like having the democrats threaten more of it and why they never propose any legislation to roll back existing stuff. It all comes down to the political utility of an issue. And some issues are so valuable as issues that you dare not solve them.

- civil unrest is likely to break out again at the slightest excuse. The antifa radicals are acting violent against *democrats* for not being sufficiently woke. This will drive shortages further into the future if true. And it will split the Left as those who voted Biden but don’t support Antifa start to think gun control and defunding cops might not be wise.

— one way or the other, ammo and supplies will come back. The question is whether it will be a year, two years, or more.

That's pretty much my take on politics. Solving an issue will cost politicians their job while preaching about those issues will keep you in business. Create fear or a sense of security, it's all about story telling and not about making progress. How does that relate to primers? Who really knows, but like others I believe its just a matter of time before supply recovers.

I suspect Joe will follow in the steps of his mentor ,BO, and use executive orders to fulfill his promises to the extremist to include gun control. This will be how he can circumvent the Senate if it is held by Republicans. Nothing will come as a surprise after observing this last election.

The President can do very little about firearms with executive orders alone, as I posted in the AR-15 thread. After all, Sandy Hook happened on Obama's watch, and not a damn thing got done in the way of gun control at the federal level as a result. It wasn't for lack of interest on Obama's part; it was because there are Constitutional limits on the President's authority.

Now let's hope that the Senate runoff races in Georgia don't give Democrats a 50th seat. Even though Joe Manchin has pledged to vote against eliminating the filibuster for legislation, a tied Senate with a Democratic VP breaking the ties would be very dangerous if the filibuster was gone.
