When did Remington still make good 700's?

I’ve had/ still have many factory and rebarreled 700’s and NEVER HAD A BAD PROBLEM!!!

Only 2 factory Rem 700 barrels had to go down the road… surprisingly both were 280 Rem.

I’m willing to bet plenty of others here will vouch what I just said.

I am looking at a Remington 700 in .308 with a 26" barrel. The barrel has 2 sets of letters stamped on it in this order: BT AZ. The serial number starts with E651****. The stock is synthetic. Believe it loads from the top and you can unload from the bottom (like a BDL perhaps?) Is there anyone that can tell me what the 4 letters mean (in order) and, more importantly, what model 700 this is?
Thanx,
Greek
That’s not a bad rifle at all.
I’ve had E serial numbered actions and they were really good.
Late 90’s to early 2000’s
Barrel date code shows 99 or 05

It's fashionable on the Internet to bash people and products, almost a cult like mentality. Facts are that most all products have improved in quality thru the years, even inexpensive ones. With CNC machining, human error has been removed.

Honestly, I don't believe Remington, Savage Tikka, Bergara or any of them are putting out lesser quality products. I do believe that more people than ever now own guns, are on the Internet, and have limited skills with their weapon. So instead of blaming themselves, they blame the gun.

One doesn't NEED a custom gun to shoot targets at the local range. Now if you're gonna compete against others, thats an entirely different ballgame.

Is anyone building competition rifles on Tikka actions? I’m curious.
Mac Tilton's shop was building highpower match rifles on a Tikka Sporter. Below is a link with some info.

I've had several Remingtons in 700, 722, 721, 725 and Model 7's.
As far as I'm concerned the best machined was the 721/722 but it had a cheap trigger.
The Model 725 was the cadillac.
The 700's of the 60's and into the 70's was on par with the 721/722 .....after that I think quality started dropping
I have a 722 that will outshoot any of my other newer 700's and Model 7's.
