Whats the best alternative to a 220 SMK for a 300 wm from Berger

I am currently shooting the 208 amax out of FGMM brass/H1000, it shoots well, real good splatter on target, no mistaking a hit or miss. I been looking at the berger bullets, really for the 6 x 47 L build I am thinking about but got to looking at the 30 cal bullets, what would be the best LR bullet combo using the H1000 or h 4350, shooting out of a 10 twist that is built and chambered by LRI, it has been chambered to handle the 220 smk? I have never used a berger product.

Look at the 215 and 230 Hybrid.

You could try the newer sierra 200grain matchkings. I’m not sure your 10t barrel would stabilize them and I’m positive your 10t barrel won’t stabilize the 230 sierras. Other than that the 215 Berger hybrid is probably your best bet. I shot a lot of the 215 Berger’s outa a 10t 28” tubes before I rebarreled to 1 in 9t 30” barrels.

We shot lots of 240 Sierras out of 10 twists. Never had a problem with them. I use 210 VLD for competition but the 200 20x, the 215 hybrid, 190 VLD will all shoot good out off a 10 twist. Matt

The 220 and 240 smk s never seemed to be finicky like the new higher bc matchkings

215 Berger with H1000 has been a deadly combo for me. Start them at 30 thou off and adjust from there.

This is much information over a broad range of bullets as I can give you in a short amount of time look at twist rate some bc’sAnd see what works best for you one picture is target bullets the other will be hunting bullets all 30 caliber I personally use the 185 juggernaut in a 300 WinMag I load for my friend

I'm late to the dance here. Most folks over look this bullet either because of cost, not so high bc or not pretty. However, the 220 Scenar L is great bullet, especially in my 300. Easy to tune and carries well.

215 hybrids in the 300 win mag is a good match. The 220 Lapua Scenar is a great bullet. H1000 is a great powder for the 300wm and heavies.

Just throwing it out there buy why just limit yourself to just looking at Berger? As has been pointed out the Lapua’s are nice bullets. Also I would look at the 225 Hornady ELDM and if I where to look at the Bergers I would try the 210VLD before the 215.

230 OTM, jump them 0.005". People like to whine about the belted case, but 300WM is a fantastic cartridge.

5 shots, 100 yds. Berger 210 HVLD.. It's from a WSM but still a good option for the WM.. I posted this photo else where on here. I just like it.. lol... But seriously I don't get to shoot a whole lot right now so I have few new targets.
