what's bulk once fired LC 5.56 cases worth?

I've got a chance to pick up a massive amount of once fired LC 5.56, all of which contain cases marked LC 12 and LC 15, probably all of the same lot respectively. What would be a good price per thousand or per pound for unprocessed brass like this? I plan on buying a boatload for me and possibly selling the rest.

Also got a chance to pick up a bunch of once fired Federal 9mm, too. What's this going for as well?

On your 5.56, you should plan on 75 per pound, so whatever the local scrap yard pays for yellow or cartridge brass should be your ceiling (ex: $1.50 per pound would be $.02/each). I would assume the seller got these from the military in an auction, and you inspect these brass before you buy them. Look for heavy extractor damage on the rims and other "bite" marks on the rim face indicative of over gassing and possibly full auto fire which causes the damage to the brass as the bolt tries to remove the brass while it is still gripping the chamber wall under full pressure.

The scrap yard price is what saves you from taking losses if you have to scrap a bunch after finding it's just too much work to fix some of them.

Your Federal 9mm could be anywhere from 110 to 120 per pound, same issue with scrap prices although the 9mm will probably not have been fired in an overgassed M16. Make sure it doesn't have a primer crimp, just in case, or else factor it into your prep time.

Once fired brass is available at a number of places that you can look up on the internet, Wideners, Pats Reloading, GI Brass, certain vendors on other forums, etc. 9mm seems to run from $.015 to .05/each, 5.56 from $.05 to $.10/each.

Some of the 5.56 with hopelessly damaged necks can be saved to cut down for 300 Blackout.

Good luck.

If I was closer to some of those places I would be all over those auctions like a dog on a pork chop. Reasonably priced once fired brass is awesome way to get shooters to become reloaders. It is also a good way to get more folks shooting. I have received 3 large flat rate boxes of this kind of brass so far this year. Two of the three are processed and most loaded.

If you find you have storage issues, let me know. I may take a box or two. o_O
