What were these Hoppes cleaning tips called?

I have a few of these from the 1980's. ISTR they were discredited after a while for rifled barrels. I still use them to drive a patch down shotgun barrels. Were they steel? The 20 G one I have looks to be copper. Curious.

That's right. Tornado brushes. My mentor thought they were hard on barrels, but I've never used them.

You gentlemen are correct, they were made for shotguns to remove plastic build up, and then they tried them for rifles and were to aggressive. But worked great on shotgun barrel cleaning.

Thanks all. I couldn't remember the name. Looks like Hoppes still makes them. I didn't find them on their website when I looked yesterday.

I bought a Winchester 37 in 12 gauge that the barrel bore looked un-salvageable but it could be a parts gun if I couldn't salvage the barrel. Then I bought a couple of Hoppes 12 gauge Tornado brushes and some EEZOX. Over a period of about 3 weeks I scrubbed the barrel and then patched with EEZOX every 3 evenings. Now I can see very small pitting in a few places when I borescope it and I'm just amazed at how well the Tornado Brush worked along with the EEZOX.
