What to build for wife

Hey guys I'm looking for thoughts and advise based off experience for a clambering geared towards deer for my wife. I'm just about ready to start compiling components yet I don't even have my starting point. I'm considering the 260 rem or 6.5creedmoor. I have my no experience with either cartridge. I am a avid handloader so once components are purchased ammo won't be an issue. I'm leaning toward the creed because brass seems to be everywhere right now. I cant see recoil mattering much between the 2, or am I wrong? I'm also thinking about a 8twist.
Either are great choices. Don't discard the 6.5-47 either. It's as good as the other two. Personally since you reload, the .260 gets my vote. It offers the best performance of the others and is plenty for many big game animals if not most. Good luck deciding. It's truly a coin flip

You can't hardly walk into a gun store without tripping over a pile of 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. That's a real plus if you ever take the rifle somewhere to hunt or shoot and run out of or forget your ammo. I'd vote 6.5 Creedmoor or a 6.5 Grendel.

If the rifle is more of a fun gun for you and her and you want to step up into a custom, I'd go 6 BR in a hunting-friendly configuration built on a Borden Super Short 6: https://bordenrifles.com/borden-super-short-6-action/

6x45 with 80gr Barnes TTSX. Fleabite recoil (about half the powder of a .243 Win), excellent penetration on medium game, feeds beautifully from standard magazines. Abundant, quality, low-cost brass. Lighter bullets (~70gr) great for practice, varmints, etc. Long barrel life.

6X45, just built mine a couple of years ago but finding it's the most under-rated cartridge I've ever known of. Very mild on recoil, shoots very accurate, works great for AR-15 or Bolt-rifle.

Put together a 6.5 Grendel for a buddy last year, between his family I got to see a mess of dead deer and lots of smiles, they couldn't believe something so small could could work so well. I am a 6mm Grendel (243LBC) kinda guy and it's rather impressive! did a 6.5 Grendel shooting 130 Game Kings and it's showing it's going to be a rather evil little critter getter BUT I am and am going to be an old 243 Win fan for a very long time :)

In my mind the 243 Win is the simple choice, I mean its been working rather well for a couple years now lol

First of all it's for your wife and not an excuse for you to get another rifle - so you have to be all in.
She needs to be making the choices within certain sideboards.
Caliber: Have her pick between a .243 and 6mm creedmoor (work fine for deer and if you come out west for antelope).
8 twist barrel (Brunos and Bugholes have lots of barrels and contours)
Muzzle break!!! She will enjoy shooting it at the range. (your barrel contour needs to be big enough for a break)
Decent aftermarket trigger
Stock: Manners or McMillian (have her look at color schemes/camo patterns etc)
Cerakote with a color she picks to go with stock
With your Remington action consider getting it bushed from Gre-Tan (~$100) maybe a side bolt release ($100)

My wife likes to hunt with me. She has a few rifles she claims as her own which include an old short barrel Swede Mauser in 6.5x55, a .22-250, a .260 Ackley Improved and a custom Savage in .25-06 which has a 26" Criterion sporter barrel on it. When something needs killin the .25-06 is the one she grabs and she does very well with it.

I've been working with the 6.5x55 Ackley on a new F Open rifle. So far it's been one of the easiest cartridges I've ever worked with. It would make an incredible deer cartridge and with the 156 Berger it's definitely an elk rifle too. Mild recoil and easy to shoot. 7.5" twist seems to just shoot everything I put through it. My next hunting rifle will definitely be chambered in it.

A few guys have recommended the 6x45. That's also a sweet little cartridge. A whole opposite end of the power spectrum but it definitely gets the job done. I've killed a few deer with that round. 95 Partition's at 2600 will have full penetration on heart/lung shots and puts a huge hole in the vitals. In the freezer every time. And it is possibly the most enjoyable cartridge I've ever shot.

That's great to hear. That cartridge is interesting to me as well. But even with the 6.5x57 I'm concerned about feeding problems with short action. Maybe I forgot to mention it earlier that but my donor will be a short action 700. Love all the feedback guys
Thanks

Why not a 308. You don't have to shoot at 2850 fps. Can load to 2650-2850 fps.

25-06 could be good. Low recoil nice ballistics and hits deer like a lightning strike.
A buddy is going after pronghorn in NE Nevada today with a 25-06. His load is 80-gr TTSX ahead of RL-16 @3400 fps and 1/2 MOA. He started out experimenting with light monolithic bullets in various calibers, seeking a low-recoil load for his wife, and fell in love with the TSX line across the board for their dramatic efficacy on game and surprising accuracy. He himself has a bad shoulder, so lighter recoil is a family thing. His "heavy" load for big deer and elk is 270 WSM pushing a 95 or 110 TTSX.
