what rest should I buy

:o going to be buying a front rest here in the next month or so... I want to get some advise from the guys that have shot longer than I have. I shoot 600 yard benchrest I don't want to limit myself as I would like to try short range and 1000 yard I have shot off of a seb coax and I liked it. Thinking farley or seb rest what the price differance between the two and what one do you prefer. Pros and cons any info is appreciated. Thanks Brad

If your have a stock thats very straight and tracks well the Sinclair will be fastest. If your gun does not track great, a joystick will be faster, the Farley will do everything you need. Problem with the joysticks is it hard to make very small adjustments and not over shoot them, the knobs are actually faster in that case. You really should have a stock that tracks, so focus on that and get a sinclair competition rest, imo.

Give these a look. Half the price and Dan will modify to your specs. Wait time when I bought mine 3years ago was 4-6 weeks, got it in 4 1/2.

Brad,

You could also look into a Hart Pedestal base and buy the Shadetree co-axial top, works very well.

Richard.

Buy a NEO from SEB and never look back. The wait is well worth it. I have gone through several of the rests mentioned and the NEO is better hands down - IMHO.

Heres what happens when your gun tracks. A Joystick will only slow you down. I have owned and shot both. If you plan to shoot f-class go with a Neo for easy hold offs. If you plan to shoot benchrest make your gun track.

This one also shows what happens when your rifle tracks. He also one the relay. That was at the Williamsport World Open 2008 I believe.

Ok, so for you guys not using joy-stick model's and making your rifles track, who's rest are you using?

I use a original Bald Eagle. I also use a joystick. It just depends on what im shooting. I believe both equally well for what i use them for.

MY own. My stock lets me add adapters. The rest has adapters also. The 8''wide is adjustable where the bore centerline can be 2'' above or below rest height. Testing so far shows With the bore centerline below the rest height not only track better but shoots better. Mounting the barrel with a block and not using the stock works very well. ;D Larry

For a solid non joy stick non windage top rest that is a one of a kind look at Viper Benchrest. Go to the customizing section of the site and check them out. Mine is the one with the Roses on it.....I couldn't be more pleased.
