What Kind of Bipod Is This?

I picked up this bipod today but have no clue on what kind it is or the mount that it uses.

It is all steel, nice wide platform, and all adjustments are very solid. I just have never seen this type of mount so have no clue on what to get to mount it on a rifle. If nothing else I will fab a mount for it.

If you have any ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

I sent it to my buddy that has been a sniper for many years and has both AI and Parker Hale setups, he doesnt recognize it. I will have to look up the Sako.

If it is a Sako TRG style mount, then it doesn't mount so much 'on' a rail as it 'plugs' into the end of the fore-end.

KRG (aka kineticresearchgroup.com) makes several chassis that accept that style of spigot mount. They also make several chassis extensions that go into the socket and bolt in place to extend the fore-arm and provide mounting points for Picatinny and Arca bipod, as well as NV bridges.

Now that makes sense and I can understand how it works better. I have it figured out how to build a mount. I may just make it so it attaches to an ARCA rail as I would like to switch to those. Thanks for the help.

Yup. It’s for a Sako TRG. They sell for $3-500, last I looked. Very well made bipod. Years ago, I had a guy make me some mounts for them. I might have a couple left in my parts box. I made some stocks and buried the mount under the barrel channel. I can look for them if you’re interested.
Let me know.

Thank you Josh but today I drew it all out and will probably go ahead and make a mount tomorrow. Ill post a pic when I get it done.
Ok! It’s pretty simple if you have the right tools. All my tooling is for wood work so I had to sub it out. What I really liked about that bipod is the way the gun hangs under instead of siting on top.

Kind of obvious but make sure you get the mount high enough to let the bipod wrap around the barrel. Most important with a heavy barrel. I’d like to see pics when you’re done!

Didn't get a chance to do it today but will be working on it tomorrow. I will drop a couple pics when I am done.

Built the mount but have to trim down the tail end. It will loose a little over half the thickness and about 1/3 of the width. Fits beautiful, will go in a bench/target stock I built with a heavy forend.

I will finish it tomorrow and inlet the stock. Probably rust blue the mount. I was flying by the seat of my pants on part of this as wasnt sure exactly how much strength and mass it needed but will be extremely strong without being to heavy when done.
